Hmmmmm......Shedua Segua Schmua Baba Lua?

Bucksway likely mowing lawn, I am watching golf and this.

Front looks ebony, rear looks Shedua, especially the lock end of the scale, I think we may be being fooled as it looks like that oiling the pivot has darkened the front end woods. You will know when you get it in hand....good luck...

Yeah......I just had to take a shot at it.

He who hesitates is lost.......sometimes he who rushes in is a fool. What to do, what to do?

:)

Speaking of wood......who's the guy that's selling the nice collection of 112s and calling all the slabs "Madagascar ebony?"

Anybody from here? Is that another term used for "Macassar?"

Looking at it on a larger monitor, the pile side sure looks like Ebony...and the stamp side ??? Wouldn't it be So Cool if it was one of each!!! Say, from a repair, or Buck changing over scale materials and a guy on the line pulls a funny...just sayin' is all ;)

Ah, the history of the incredibly rare and much sought-after "Changeover" knife is beginning to take shape.

Marketing.......ain't it great!!!???

:D

Thanks to all.

I should have it in a couple of days and we'll know for sure.

:)

I dont know which word i have more trouble with, shedua or lignum vitaea-uh? :)
Regardless of what the handle material is, the 112 looks to be in great shape! I do hope it is said-you-uh!

Thanks, Joe.

Just got it. It is unusually light Macassar, I think.

It looks different from all my other Macassar. One side, if you twist and turn it in the light, will give you some little flashes of iridescence like you sometimes see in KOA or Walnut.

I'll get some pictures later. It's not perfect, but it's good enough that I probably won't have to increase your workload.

:D

Yeah, she told me that and I thought, "Yep, must be somebody from the Buck Forum."

I would have grabbed that 110 if Dave hadn't been quicker.

Guess I got there just in time on the 112.

:)

That's a beautiful old 110, Dave.....well done. It looks like a Third Version.......and fairly early.

Pictures......it's a nice old knife, anyhow.

This last pic is the side that gives the nice flares when the light hits it right.....from knots in the wood, I guess.

Hmmm...I'm changing my mind on this one! I think you struck gold BG! Shedua tends to have shimmery goldish tones in the sunlight...kind of a color shifty thing..probably lots of oil and sweat etc darkened those scales...

above are a couple of my Shedua 112's...I need to dig them out and get better pics of them...

Oh, thanks, Pack Rat.......that's a good link.

I was totally undecided......now I think I'm call it Segua or Shedua, especially with what Sit said about the shimmery tones. It's definitely got them on the one side.

So, I'm feeling good about it. I don't even mind that PlumberD beat me to that great 110.

:)
