HO vs standard fluorescent shop fixtures?

Wow, thanks for all the info guys! :)

Phorizt--- that definitely cleared things up for me. Thank you, I really appreciate the help. :)

Nick,

Here's the IESNA charts I thought a person could easily find at the IESNA web site. Turns out a person would need to search IES now-a-days to get to them... and then... a person would play hell finding the IES information shown at this link... http://www.mts.net/~william5/library/illum.htm. In Table 1, the three listings of foot-candles for the task can be equated to the different ages of eyes... Under 40, 40 to 55, Over 55.

If you can get task light crossing in from each side, as opposed to straight down or down and in from the front, it will eliminate most shadows and not create veiling or blinding glare. A close 4' fluorescent will create crossing light if a person works in the center of it, but a person might need to shade their eyes... especially if they are older... which you are not... but I am... and you will be... =]

Mike

Remember... LED advertised life span is (supposedly standardized now) one half of unit's total. At one half of total life, an LED will put out 1/2 the amount of light it did when new.
