Hey all, Just curious what hobbies outside of edged weapons you have?

For me, I do a lot of different things. I like to shoot guns and primitive archery, I work on motorcycles and cars, I collect comics and cosplay at different conventions, and I spend a lot of time at the renaissance faire in garb.

And since I haven't shared a picture of me yet on here:

Edit: The woman with me is my beautiful, way out of my league wife. Haha

You are a youngster, makes me feel old! I like to shoot too. I also collect old woodcraft and outdoors books, I have a small collection of scout gear, and I collect Buck knives. I enjoy hiking, but do to my legs acting up I have not done much of that recently.

I can understand the legs acting up. I hike very rarely because of an Army injury (Non-Combat related). Tore up my leg pretty bad during a competition, after surgery and 7 years later, it still hurts if I do too much.

Well... I could name about a dozen different things!
The things we have in common are guns and comics mostly.
I have a Beretta M9A1, Rem. 870, and a Henry .22lr with a Leupold 3x9. Im currently working on getting a Beretta CX4 in 9mm that accepts my M9 mags.
The comics I collect are strictly The Maxx by Sam Keith and all manner of Swamp Thing. Alan Moore's writing run of Swamp Thing is by far my favorite.

The hobbies we might not share are my love of Jeeps and rock-n-roll posters.
When im not lurking here I spend the rest of my time at expressobeans.com
Browse that site with caution; its easy to spend some serious cash really quick. :p

The Jeep I have is a '95 Wrangler with 5-6'' lift sitting on 35'' tires.
Its a never ending project with me and my dad. We've put a lot of work into it.
We have to mount a new winch this weekend. Im tired of tip-toeing around all these mud holes!
Theres an older picture of it over on the WoodKarver Passaround thread.

Oh, forgot to mention I also play banjo and make whiskey.

Awesome Hobbies! I haven't tried Banjo yet, But I grew up playing Piano and Guitar, and as an adult picked up bagpipes and Cello.

As for the Jeep: I'd love to see more pictures of it. I am a HUGE Jeep fan. Unfortunately I still haven't been able to get one because it doesn't meet the practicality I need (I drive for work, so gas mileage is important sadly). I really love the new 4 door wranglers though.

Another Jeep fan here. I bought a sweet 2012 Wrangler new, it was stolen a few months later. Had a 2014 Grand Cherokee, sold it and got a 2015 Compass, cheaper on gas and payments. Doing everything I can to get ready for retirement by cutting bills. Also had a 1976 CJ 5 I bought new back then, but that`s another story. My all time favorite 4X4 was my 1978 Land Cruiser, after it was 10 years old I put a small block Chevy V8 in it, I could lift the front wheels off the ground shifting from first to second gear!

Yeah, the jeep I have is more of a 4-wheeler or ATV than a road warrior.
We actually trailer it places to go ride. I got a few pics over on photobucket ill post.

I picked up banjo because i could never get the fretting right on a guitar. The beautiful thing about a banjo is you only have four strings to fret. Every finger gets a string!

Heres the most recent pic of The Swamp Goat! :D

This is at an offroad park about 30 min from my house

And heres an older one of her all cleaned up, and before we chopped the fenders off.

We do the "Texas Renaissance Festival" every year.

Knives, fishing, cooking, and music in no particular order. Here's me from a recent trip to the blue ridge mountains. Funny thing was that I was posing for this picture feeling all awkward and what not then all of the sudden I got a couple monster bites. Okay maybe not that funny.

I love going to record stores and could spend an entire day looking through every genre available.

another Jeep fan but sold mine a couple years back not many places to go offroading nearby here.
I love to hunt and shoot (probably my number 1 even over knives ... but shhhhh no one here heard that) ... camping, fishing ... love riding horses and love training bird dogs.
Music is a huge part of my life grew up on it and playing guitar.

heyyy...very good guys...

i crack myself up. i took this the other day to make fun of someone talking about "selfies". the funny part was that my son says, "What are you doing?? I don't think i've ever seen you take a selfie before."

but, that's all off-topic.

i used to collect old baseball cards. my favorite sets were 1957 Topps, 1963 Fleer and the 1959 Fleer Ted Williams. i had to sell those years ago, and it is more difficult now on the bay to get good deals.

i also like fishing, hunting, camping, hiking and drinking.

Hobbies? I think I remember those. Prior to parenthood, my wife and I used to hike 15-20 miles a weekend. Vacations were planned around what hike we were going to do and the best time of year to do it. I also enjoy shooting (firearm, archery & airgun) and hunting (deer, turkey, & coyote). But these days all of my non-working, non-sleeping hours are spent providing mission support to Super Heros

And overseeing demolition projects of one type or another.

I have recently undertaken spoon carving as a hobby and find it relaxing. And now that my son is getting big enough and showing interest we will probably start doing some fishing and canoeing.

cool thread, some nice obbies in here to,

I tinker with cars/trucks/mowers only as far as making them work again goes, can't say it's a hobby so much as penance, i even get it done without making things worse sometimes :)

I enjoy writing, although that kind of on the back burner laterly, and running, which I'm still able to keep up (mostly) frequently, I'm (hopefully) running the Rugged Red (which was also the rugged walk for me the last 2 miles last year, its a beast of a half marathon) and Nadar Tunnel this summer for the first time

current runnign shoes still going trong, and the multi tool i carry while i run (a gift froma fellow forum member)

I did work and enjoy some historical garb festsivals and sites for a few years and worked as aliving historian for a while, but again it's something we haven't been able to get out and do much of the last few years

As a family we also like to stalk and explore deserted and old houses/places and pretty much anything esle we can find in kentucky

(can't find most of my pictures right now, whops)

We've also tried fishing, but until one of us catch something I don't know I'd call it a hobby yet :D

(gifts from andy - mqqn - might help next tiem we go out though, thanks again!)
