Right on! Yeah not too much gold out your direction. I have to admit I enjoy metal detecting a little more that panning or sluicing (usually). I have tried dredging with my dad, but I HATE cold water and even with a wet suite dredging in the middle of summer that snow melt water is cold, so I don't dredge anymore. Though you can find some really neat stuff in the bottom of rivers, especially in areas that were heavily worked a long time ago. My dad has found an old axe head, coins from the 1800's, part of an old meat grinder, and various unidentifiable metal objects. He even found an old leather boot sole with a tack in it.
