I've just order a Hobbit Fang and I really think I'm going to like it. Are there any Fang owner out there who'd like to voice their opinions?

It's aneat little neck knife that has useful shape. I have used it for camping and find it perfect for small game. A drop point and the finger grooves allow reasonable control even when covered with blood. Also there are plenty of carry options.

I really like mine. I wear it when I go jogging. Don't know if it would be a good utility knife though. Some prefer the Utility over the Fang. I like the pull and feel of the Fang.

Hope you like yours.

I have several knives that can be configured as neck carry, some quite a bit more expensive, but the Fang is still probably one of the easiest, efficient and non-printing of them all for it's size. There are a few smaller, lighter neck knives out there, but it's hard to beat the Fang. Wish I had one in a premium stell like BG42, CPM440V or even Talonite, now THAT would be one heck of a neck knife.
But the Fang rules the roost for now. Just my .02

I had a friend put thin Micarta scales on mine- I love it- It goes as an inverted-carry in the inside breast pocket of whatever jacket I am wearing. Super little knife

I carry mine attached to my body armor shoulder strap in the "Rambo" position. Carry it daily and love it.

I know I sound like a broken record when I say this is an outstanding little knife. I say that about a lotta knives. But, they are knives which, IMO, are worthy of the accolade.
This one is no exception.
I have at least a dozen neck knives, production and custom, but the Hobbit Fang and the Emerson LaGriffe are far and away my favorites. They are fantastic low key cutting tools that ride very discreetly in the neck carry mode.
The Fang takes and keeps a great edge and works well in utility type cutting chores.
As far as self defense goes, this is, IMHO, purely a hit and run knife. I wouldn't want to engage in a protracted knife fight with this as it is too small for that purpose. Hell, I wouldn't wanna be in that scenario with a Katana!

Anyway, it's a great little knife for the money.
I hope it serves you well.

My new bumper sticker:

Let me tell you about my SIFU!

I have had a Fang for about 2yrs now and find it a very handy knife to have around (your neck!). It is nice to have at least one knife you don't mind using the crap out of!!! Mine holds an edge and the Black-T coating has held up well. The shape is great for cutting "stuff" on a cutting board.

I just got the Utility model and I think I'm going to like it better as a general all around knife. Discount Knives has them for $31!! I paid $45 for the fang when it first came out!!

By the way, I also got a SIFU. All I can say is WOW! Mine has very good blade grinds compared to my other REKATs, but the edge needs some work (uneven edge bevel at the tip). I will touch it up after the "newness" wears off! Now I'm going to have to send in my Pocket Hobbit for repairs--I want it to lock up as solid as the SIFU which has NO vertical blade play at all.

Thanks to everybody for their input. I just got my Fang today and I love it. I don't normally like small knives but this is an exception. It's just big enough for most tasks that I would ask of it and small enough to go anywhere. I'm probably going to buy a few more, one is definetly getting attached to the strap of my backpack.
