The tool on the right, is this a wood working tool? I have several adzes and one almost identical but mine seems pretty long for log use. Yours looks like the grind on it more wood related than soil and the poll of course. I'll get a picture but I think mine doesn't have an extended poll. It might also be I've never seen these things in a more intact condition.

Yes, the one on the right is a carpenters adze not a hoe (there's another at the far left). It was just in the photo incidentally. But it does demonstrate something. Adzes and hoes can use the same handle but hoes are often mounted differently with a shoe that fits a replaceable blade. The hoe is expected to wear out under normal use. Also, hoes frequently use an oval eye or half-oval eye. You won't find those on wood working tools.
