I got a good ways through before it actually split. Lottsa sparks too. As Uncle Jarvis mentioned, there really isn't much damage besides the blunting. the front edge is still uber sharp and even the blunted edge is still capable of chopping. Some steeling and minor sharpening, and she should come right back.

Jerry, your steel is the schizznit! Thanks for producing such a great product!

VERY NICE!!!!
Now I want to go chop bricks.....:p

Some advice. Avoid using the ASH1 for chopping through nails and screws. INFI dislikes chopping through that stuff. It is a good way to put serrations on the blade though.
Any sort of concrete/cement cant stand a chance. Hacking at thin hardened metals will F... your blade up...

I hear you! I dinged the edge on my FBM last summer splitting wood. There was a hidden nail in the wood. The FBM went through it, but it bit the edge pretty good. Took me a while to smooth it out.

Well I decided to try and put my ASH through a piece of steel I grabbed out of the trash today. It was about 1/16th thick plate of of something around the shop. I tried a couple stabs at it and left some good marks, but nothing penetrated. I then basicly drove it through the plate using a heavy piece of wood.

It went right through it no problem. It even ended up splitting the backing board. As expected, no real damage other the the coating stripping off. More to come. :D
