Most people don't know this little bit of trivia.
Will Bill Shakespear was a great fan of the muck knife.
In point of fact the original transcripts of some of his most famous writings read quite a bit different than the published versions.
For instance here's one that somebody changed around after his death.
"Is this a MUCK which I see before me,
The handle toward my hand? Come, let me clutch thee.
I have thee not, and yet I see thee still.
Art thou not, fatal vision, sensible
To feeling as to sight? Or art thou but(45)
A MUCK of the mind, a false creation,
Proceeding from the heat-oppressed brain?
I see thee yet, in form as palpable
As this MUCK which now I draw."
It probably makes more sense now that it has been chamged to the original format, don'cha think?
Here's another.
Hamlet:
Swear by my MUCK!
Never to speak of this that you have heard.
Ghost:
[Beneath] Swear by his MUCK!
Hamlet:
Well said, old MUCK, canst work i' th' earth so fast?
A worthy pioner! Once more remove, good friends.
ANd still more...
Falstaff:
I will not lend thee a MUCK.
Pistol:
Why then the world's mine oyster,
Which I with MUCK will open.
Falstaff:
Not a MUCK.
Here endeth the lesson.
