skinning a wild hog can be hard on your knife im looking for good steel that can hold an edge,an under $150 bucks.i was looking at grohmann in stainless an carbon, brkt with 12c27 sandvik, dozier d2 ,how are these, an what would you use

Dozier is a good choice. I used one last year on a domestic hog and it worked just fine.

+1 on the Dozier (or other D2 with a good heat treat)- unless you can afford a Fowler (or so I've heard- can't afford one myself)

First choice would be my S90V millie, could probably skin 10 hog's without needing a resharpen. Other good choices would be a RC-3, brkt, blind horse knives or a mora.

How about a RC-3? They even have a video of it being used to skin another animal on their website.

howzit rctk1 u anotha local boy da loves his knives an do some boa huntin i tink i going try da bark aloha

I use a simple Buck skinner - holds an edge just fine and I have skinned MANY pigs with it. I can skin a 200 pounder and only have to touch the blade up once, maybe twice during the job.
