I´m still looking for that HOGFSH... I haven´t given up my search yet... but I recently had a conversation with a forum member and he was very clear when he stated, that owning both the HOGFSH and the NMFSH he could assure that the NMFSH is a knife far superior than the HOG, and that "the HOG should be a collector´s piece by now"... the NMFSH is much better balanced than the HOG.

Having in mind that LastVisibleCanary stated about two weeks ago on a thread about performance:

"...Balance is often everything in a knife, and I've held a few busse's that were superbly balanced. The ones that have always stood out to me as being *perfect* were the b9, HOGFSH and 1311. ..." I dont remember if LastVisibleCanary stated wether he owned or not the NMFSH thoug... but undoubtedly the man "knows a thing or two" about knives...

My question is: ¿being pretty much the same knife in different length and thickness, wich one, in your experience, is a better all rounder?... ¿Will the HOG be much the same as with the NM?

TKS, I really appreciate your info.

I don't have a HOG at the moment, but I assure you... The NMFSH is MUCH more balanced! This thing is unbelievable.

I would trade my CGNMFSH for a HHFSH or Saber Ground FSH in a second. What is the HOGFSH?????

HOGFSH is a .315 FSH Full flat Grind. HHFSH is .270ish and is sabre ground. MOASH is .345.

Curious as to why you would trade it?

These (with the exception of the black bladed one) are HOG's, .320 thick. The Heavy Ordnance Grade Fusion Steel Heart is (IMHO) the greatest chopper ever conceived.

Alas, they're all gone except for the bottom one.

I have held a "few" of each and they are both excellent blades. Balance wise for me the NMFSH is the winner. That being said I will never get rid of my HOGFSH. It will always have a special place in my collection as my first chopper.

I have had them all and the NMFSH is the best of the bunch for balance. I have sold the rest and ordered multiple NMFSH variants.

I agree that the NMFSH has perfect balance. It is definitely one of, if not my favorite chopper.

Like others have said, get the HOGFSH for your collection and get the NMFSH to use. Then get another NMFSH for your collection.

Wow!!!...I´m Truly surprised...I wasn´t expecting such a consistent answer. Thanks.

Dinokay...Why did you keep the 2007 custom shop?...because of the handles?

Just to clarify some tacit agreements, when we are talking about balance, we are talking about chopper-like balance right?, that is, where the center of mass is closer to the sweet spot of the knife, instead of being closer to the index when holding it?...

I just want to make this clear because that would make the HOGFSH a better allrounder doesn´t it?

The NMFSH (with machined G10) balances about 1/4" (~6.5mm for you metric folks) forward of the handle scales. For this reason, it is VERY nimble in a forward grip with the index finger set inside the choil.

If I had to keep one, my hogfsh (was a gift from my woman)
However, if I had to choose just one for use, the nmfsh. My hogfsh has what seem to be SUPER mags, add that they are smooth and it just doesnt feel as easy/safe to manipulate as my nm with machined scales. Ive always said it, of all the busses Ive handled, The hogfsh is pound for pound the manliest of them IMO. Havnt done any battoning with the nm yet but BOY does the hog split the crap out of wood. The few prelim swings I took with the nm certainly put a smile on my face thats for sure :D
However, Dont complicate things, do yourself a favor & get both

Eric, I see you despise that ShshII and have nothing nice to say about it. I will go head and help you and send you my mailing address AND 15 for shipping expenses......

Brother...that´s what my mind sais..."get them both"...I´m just trying to be efficient and get one that I´ll use...Not much room for safe queens if I´m not going to at least see them all the time...

(Just for the record, I believe you are right, but I´ll have to make the choice next week and I dont want to decide on the spot).

tks

Yep, I have a big hand so the handle on the custom fit me my needs the best. The HOGFSH is a heavy beast, it feels like you can chop down a house with it:D.

I love them both but if I had to pick one it would be the NMFSH! I just love this blade, everything about it. The balance the thickness the grind the reach... everthing! Busse and crew for another master piece of a blade.

Paul, Will you be so kind to post a picture of both knives from the top view?...so I can appreciate the difference in thickness?. I believ eric´s picture is clear enough on the front view....anyway, if you grab the cammera, you might as well let us see both...

Thanks in advance, I´d really appreciate it.
