I've been wanting to get a pic of me grinding 5160 to see the sparks fly. I'm working on a camp/survival knife for the Blade show today, so I asked the wife to take a couple of pics. It really looks cool when you see it in stopped action. :D This knife is another hoss with a overall size of 13 1/2", 1/4" thick.

ah. so you work with the belt in reverse! Thats why your knives look so good...just kidding.
My uncle fixed me up with a reversing switch on my motor so now I can sharpen more saftley...
 
hey, switch the lead on the motor so it turns the right way. :D
 
Damn you guys are observant. :D I hear that alot. I do grind with the belt going away from me and it's worked out great. I feel why have all that crap coming at me when it can go away from me. I've always seemed to be the odd man out. :D

my sparks hit me right in the crotch when I'm grinding. Keeps me warm in the wintertime.
 
The trick to drama photos in the shop is turn the lights off (or use distant indirect light), turn the flash off, and hit a big piece of Ti on a fresh 36 grit belt! People will think you're really cool! :D

I'm into the flaming crotch thing while grinding. It took me a couple of years, but I figured it made more sence to put my exhaust pickup in my lap than to keep throwing buckets of water on my
flaming privates.

I ain't got much down as it is, need to keep what I've got. :D But a real man would grind naked. :p :D The way I grind at a 45 degree angle the crap would be all over me. I know alot of you grind vertically so I can see it rotating the other way because everything goes down. I can convex grind better at a 45 then vertically. Most of my grinds are convex. I only flat grind at the customers request. I've gotten pretty proficent at convex grinding. I've been getting alot of complements about my grinds. :D

Count me out, but I have forged naked, if that counts :p Welding wasn't much fun though, so I stopped.

And yes, I really was asked to demo at a nudist colony, turned the gig down though, was afraid I'd knock the anvil off the stump if a really pretty girl came by. :p :p :D

Tony, the way that Mark tells us about you is that you couldn't knock thimble of a spool of thread with what you are endowed with. :eek: :p :D

IG, Only problem there would be if it where more than a foot away, but hey, no-ones perfect, right :) And at least mine still works :p Ya old fart :D

Yep!! You would have to use your foot. Mark said that you have two belly buttons and neither one works. :p :D :D
PS: It is MR. Ole Fart to You Sonny or should I call you Stubby for short. HEHEHE!!!!! :eek: :p :D
