Hogstrom Sheffield Scimitar

Wow, I love that! Blade shape is killer, and that cip grind is very nice, really great flow.

Thanks for sharing Don, really nice piece overall.

Some one has to post an in hand pic!

I literally thought that was a small pocket bowie with a 3.5 inch blade!

Now that I know it is 7.5 inches with a 2 inch wide blade, it also clears up another thought I had (I wondered if my fat fingers would fit inside that lower downturn on the front of the guard). No problems there, with those dimensions.

I made the mistake of going to Anders Hogstrom's website today ( I have been quite a few times).

I went into a time warp! Lost 2 hours of my life in an instant, and did not even come close to looking at all the knives. I think I only made it through the swords and daggers. Did not even get through the fighters, or folders!

Like many, I also thought it was a small knife. I love the design, grind, and popcorn stag.

With a blade of 7.5" it must be quite a handful!

There are some very fine comments here- honestly, I am touched...that my work moves you in some ways and that the shapes are so appreciated makes me a very happy knife maker! For me the blade, grind lines and design is on both 1st and 2nd place on the list of importancy in a blade. Materials are of course important too but I don't think you can rack up a bunch of fancy stuff to make up for a poor design. I will get cracking on that in hand photo and post asap boys!

Anders,

Thats just plain fantastic and a rather unusual style from you. Exeptionally well done.

Funny, to me there is some Hanson influence in that blade.

This is a really nice knife!!!

And now instead of a miniature it looks like a beast from that in hand shot!

Part of its appeal is the lines are almost a caricature. Everything is pronounced and magnified.

It looks so squat and round, but then the sharp exacting bevels, guards, and the pointiest of tips. YIKES!

From across the oceans you can tell who made THIS one! ;)

Lots of visual appeal. As soon as I look at it I want to hold it. And I know if I hold it I won't want to put it down.

Another wonderful knife Anders. My second favorite Hogstrom and you know which my favorite is. Have to admit this would have been a great addition though/

It's so much more impressive looking with the in-hand shot.

Really stellar design with bold flow and lines.

Best Regards,

I swore it wasn't the same knife. Or the first photo was altered. I took both images and aligned them in the same orientation to compare side by side...

They are exactly proportional.

It's a trap! ;)
