Hogue / Elishewitz - Awesome Knives That Should Get More Attention

I really wanted a EX-02 when I saw them debut at BLADE several years back. I was holding out for one with an uncoated blade, but they never came out with one. Curious why they only offered the black coated blades on the EX-02?

I asked myself the same question about the lack of discussion on the Hogue knives, especially considering how well the EX04 is constructed. I have just started getting into knives and have found this forum to be invaluable. This is in fact my first post. After two months of research on this forum, I have learned a considerable amount and have finally made my first purchases: Spyderco Sage 1, Spyderco ParaMilitary2 Black Blade/Camo, and the Hogue EX004 4" Tactical Wharncliffe with Gray handle. I have selected these knives to fit almost every need, though I might need a Spyderco Salt 1 serrated to complete the collection. These knives have all been bought to be used, as knives should be, but I must admit that the Hogue EX04 is almost too beautiful. As stated in this thread, the locking mechanism, the handle, the blade, and the fit are all tremendous. I am sure that some may argue that they would prefer a different steel than 154CM for their collection, but since I plan on using it and sharpening it myself, it is probably a good choice.

Thanks to all who contribute to this site. It has helped me tremendously in learning about knives and I think helped me to make some good choices for my first ones.

I realize Jeru indicated the button locks will work on gravity, but I can't find a single video where anyone opens or closes the knife by just using the button. Could someone comment on whether that works?

On my EX01 the blade easily swings closed when the lock is disengaged. It's really easy to inertia open even without pushing down on the button lock to relieve the tension. It swings as freely as any Axis lock when the button lock is disengaged.
