Hogue EX01 4"

I've got the 4inch, black gmascus, drop point blade - an awesome blade for the value!
Smooth action, strong lockup and quality craftsmanship:thumbup::thumbup:

Cheers for the great pics, review and testing!

Great review. I just received the 4" tanto black aluminum handles this weekend. Color me impressed so far. Push button takes some getting used to. Also not sure if I am digging the lock button. Seems it would be pretty difficult to accidentally activate the lock button. But the grinds on the tanto is wicked cool...lockup is amazing, no blade play..extremely smooth deployment...great sandblast...sharp...good jimpling on the scales,...but the jimping on the blade seems to have been smoothed out during the stone wash treatment. Looking forward to the EX-02&03s.

What are those three things in this picture? Looks kind of rough stone-like in quality

They are holes through the rear of the handle, showing the table texture through.

Quite ingenious really, as they let collected pocket lint a way out that doesn't come back in your face when you blow it out.

I'm a Hogue believer. I have had three with my current one being a 4" black G-Mascus Tanto. Love it.

I just can't warm up to that tanto blade. But that drop point has grown on me something terrible. Can't stand to be parted from it.

Did you sand the handle? Work out smoothly? I've been looking for a new pocket knife and this is at the top of the list so far, next to Benchmade's Griptilian or Pardue, and Doug Ritter's RSK MK1, which looks like an imitation of the Griptilian. These seem to be some of the only great blades with handles that are closed on the palm side, and this Hogue is only semi closed, so I was hoping it wouldn't be rough. I just bought a Fallkniven pocket knife and am sending it back because the handle is sharp. I've got a Kershaw OSO Sweet Ken Onion designed knife, which has a very comfortable handle with a descent blade but the flipper action is getting annoying; it's loosened a couple times. So did you sand down the handle nicely? Also, any more info on the button lock, how it compares to an axis or liner lock?

Thanks for the great photos.

I've had a 4" black drop point for a while now and really like it. Very light weight in your pocket.
