You know I was all excited to handle this knife. EVERYONE been saying its a GREAT knife. Well Im not sure........... This thing is so Top Heavy, when I flip it open it feels like its going to fly out of my hand!!!!

And the screw holes where you can move the clip to. Two of them show brass threads, and the third doesnt. I thought a fitting had fallen out, but I called a dealer, and he said they were all like that.

I love the blade, man it's nice, but it doesnt have 154cm stamped on it anywhere, and me being the paranoid guy that I am, makes me wonder. I know, thats stupid, but why not stamp it like everyone else?

My judgement is in process now, I go back and forth

"why not stamp it like everyone else?"

I think you may be the first person I've seen complain because of less writing/markings on a blade :p

Anyway, congrats! Those Hogues look really nice. How about some pics :D

nah, i just think everyones always trying to rip me off!! Although I gotta admit, I seen the Elishewitz guy, had some communication with him through emails and boards, and I feel like hes a STRAIT SHOOTER, so Its really no big deal. This knif is DEFINATELY growing on me though.... Man its a Big One

I like the blade being bare, just a couple simple markings. I hope you enjoy the blade.

I've carried my G-Mascus 3.5 DP and 4 DP only since I got them. About 3 weeks now straight. Good luck with your decision making. And the general consensus I've seen around here and which is my opinion too, is that there is always too much etching on blades these days. The more bare the better :D

Nice score.. What model did you get? I'm sure you have nothing to worry about when it comes to the blade not being marked. I think MOST companies are pretty honest when it comes to the kind of stuff. Rick doesn't mark a lot of his blades either... although I guess it'd be a bit harder to mark Duratech 20 CV. haha

Anyways, keep the thread updated with how you're feeling about it. I've been thinking about buying one for a long while and it's always nice to hear other opinions

My guess is he got the 4" G-Mascus model since he said it had G-10 & it was big. The 4" version noticeably bigger than the 3.5" version.

As to the steel type not being on the blade, I wouldn't worry about it being made by Hogue & designed by Elishewitz. I usually take the company's statement of what the blade steel is, usually (There are some exceptions, but U.S. made knives aren't one of them). The box clearly states the blade steel & even the RC hardness.

While I liked the design I wasn't that impressed with them when I held them at Blade contrary to most here. Hope you come to like it since it is one of your first nice knives (I think). Maybe if I had one I would learn to like it as well.

If it's the 3.5" g-10 version it's actually pretty well balanced. The balance point is pretty much right at the pivot pin. The problem is that many of the folders out there, at least from my experience, are more handle heavy. Personally, I wouldn't mind if there were some steel liners in the g-10 handles to give a little more weight to the handle. I think the overall knife could handle the extra weight even though it wouldn't be much.

I love my 3.5" drop point green g-mascus; can't wait to score the 4" black aluminum version.

I had the 4" version in G-Mascus & currently have the 3.5" version with aluminum handle. The aluminum one definitely has better balance.

I'm not so sure the G-10 version needed full liners as it'd add weight to what is already a pretty strong folder. The steel inner bolster provided plenty of strength while not adding weight, but it does have a blade heavy feel to it compared to the aluminum handled version.

I dont have camera guys, bus its a 4" Green Gmascus. Im learning to love it as an EDC for work. I mean its a BEAST!!!! I may get an aluminum one too. But yeah this thing is VERY Blade heavy. When I flick it open, I feel like its gonna fly out of my hand.. You can definately see the quality though.

OK i do OFFICIALLY like this knife. It grew on me and has thus far relegated my 710 to the drawer

I'm carrying my 4" black G-Mascus now and for the past several days after the 3.5 got the first several days. I really like these knives and consider them a top value at this time. Obviously they are still new but so far a big thumbs up. I haven't been this excited about a new knife for a while. But my preorder list is very large so others are to come still :D

Well let me insert some of my prior posted pictures for fun then!

Just got mine today, and I'm having the same initial reaction you did...hope I start to love it as you apparently did.
It really is blade heavy for sure...maybe the aluminium would have been a better choice.

And the screw holes where you can move the clip to. Two of them show brass threads, and the third doesnt. I thought a fitting had fallen out, but I called a dealer, and he said they were all like that.

Mine's the same way. I need to get a glass and look closer. I think the third hole may have some brass thread, just not the same length...which would seem odd.

The blade finish is a bit "different", which may have something to do with the minimal markings.
Or maybe "Cryo Treated 154 CM-HRC 58-60" was just too long. :D

The one thing I really don't like is the minimal detent it has. Really does not take much to nudge that heavy blade out of the handle to bite you. You would definitely not want to carry this tip up.
As long as it has a safety, it would have been nice if you could engage it in both the open AND closed postions.
