Hogue knives?

I have an ex1 and 4 and the quality of knives Hogue puts out are easily some of the best. These guys at Hogue aren't cutting any corners. Fit and finish are superb. They also are one of if not the only production brands that comes with a true mirror edge. Seriously the grinds on these knives is immaculate. The feel of my ex1 is easily comparable to my MT Socom Delta. There is no reason I can see not to get a Hogue knife.

I have a pair of EX-01s. The cutting performance is good, the build quality is excellent, and they feel comfortable in my hand. The 01s are chunky, as others have mentioned, but the fact that they are hand-filling is part of what makes them feel good in the hand.

No clue what you're talking about. Why don't you ask Houge?

ok, i did.

I was worried since the mark looks almost exactly like Hand tech made and they are somewhat less reputable

Good on you VR, thank you for clearing that up! I have not seen that mark on mine (I only have the one), but also not sure where to look.
Merry Christmas!

I have an EX-01 and 3 EX-04s. The safety slider on the 01 has a bit of a wimpy detent but not terrible. I have zero complaints about any of the 04s (much snappier safety on all of them). Before purchasing my Hogues, I always assumed a small amount of up-down play was just a feature of button lock knives (having only owned lower-end ones up till then), but all my Hogues lock up like vaults (despite an abusive level of obsessive flicking :D). Fit, finish, and sharpness have been impeccable on all the 04s, and everything except the somewhat week safety detent on the 01 is as well. I recently listed Hogue in the top 5 knife companies thread, I like them that much.

The EX-5 has some system where it flicks out incredibly hard almost like an assisted. It is best described as feeling like as the knife is coming off it's detent, it gives it a little kick forward. It only feels like that kick is at the very start of the flick.

Their neck knife is cool too. You can add scales to it that turns it inti a little karambit.

I have an EX-04 and a blue X5. Both are just what you'd want them to be......tough as nails, great materials, excellent build quality and very sexy!!! Button lock is amazing!!
The X5 flips faster & harder than any other flipper I have!
Hogue is also a great company to deal with!!

So, arent the blades CPM-154?
I saw where some say 154CM.
Quite a difference between CPM-154 and 154CM, right?

Joe, thats awesome buddy!
I have an X5 Sig Sauer. An X5 knife would be a nice compliment I think.

What a sweet combo that would be Paul!!!
Happy New Year brother!!

Hogue knives makes beautiful stuff. Their quality is really top shelf stuff. Their entire feel is refined and smooth. All three of my hogues came with mirror finish edge. The Ex01 full size is abit heavy.

Yeah my EX-04 is on the heavy side too...... it what a beast it is!
X5 is t heavy at all though.
The knives are excellent!

I have the Wilson Combat Star-Light version of the 3.5" EX-01. It's my fourth WC knife as I'm a big fan of their offerings and the Starburst grips. I've had no trouble with the slide safety in the limited carry and use that my knife has had. The detent on it seems entirely adequate.

CPM-154 is a powder metallurgy steel. It has a finer, more homoegeneous grain that will yield a keener, more polished and supposedly longer-lasting edge than 154CM. On the other hand, I've got a lot of Benchmades and consequently a pretty fair number of blades in 154CM and find it to be an excellent performer that is easily sharpenable and takes a very nice edge. My Star-Light's edge is likely still factory, and as others have noted, is mirror polished.
