what do you guys think about hogue knives ?I'm thinking about getting one they look real sturdy, any experiences?

I have the smaller folder, very very well, made. You can't go wrong easily on a level of semi-custom. they are highly regarded on all the forums. Check out the youtube demonstrations, they speak for themselves. Get one!

I've heard nothing but positive things about them -- by all accounts, Allen Elishewitz and Hogue did a superb job with the design and execution.

I got a green G-mascus 4" drop point. Spectacular knife. This is heavy-duty, almost too robust for ordinary carry, but the blade pops out with a flick of the thumbstud, and snaps back in with a turn of the wrist when the buttonlock is depressed. The stonewashed finish looks good and hides marks nicely. It is blade-heavy, but the handle is so long and grippy that this is no problem. The only excess feature is the lock, which I don't use.

I feel like it's a bargain at the price. The smaller size would probably suit most people better. I like metal handles but I'm glad I got the G-mascus, really nice feel to it.

as always I appreciate all the comments and reassurances you guys give, cant wait to get one-thanks

i got the tanto in green aluminum- the larger one. its one of the very best folders i own. cant recommend it enough. be sure to look around as you can get some pretty awesome pricing on the hogues.

Greetings:

I have the G-mascus 4" drop point like Esav Benyamin, except in black. I'm mightily impressed by its solid construction as well, and the attention to detail is eyepopping. I cannot find one flaw in the quality of its craftsmanship, although I'm not a knifemaker. The 4" tanto in green aluminum that awh has is the exact model I'd like to buy next. Here are some pics of mine; please pardon my poor photography skills.

Cheers,

Dont' even think about it. Just get one. The EX01 is the best folder I have ever carried. Just my opinion. Oh yea I almost forgot the only thing I dont like is the shiny pocket clip. You can see it from a mile away.

I have two of the smaller ones which are still plenty big enough for edc. Both are made extremely well and are a great deal.

I have the small green tanto . I work in a mailroom setting , cutting boxes ect.... . This knife has become my favorite for the most part . :)

I've been eyeing the 7" fixie. Just a superb looking design. I'm sure someone's mentioned it before but semi-custom seems a great way to go--- you are getting a pattern that has been worked and worked to get to the exact dimensions and feel the designer is looking for, and its produced to spec so essentially it should be near perfect. And Mr Elishewitz don't mess around...

when i first saw it,back last november, it was in a knife store in a glass showcase. i didnt know what it was,& i thought,ah,forget it its probably 500.00 anyway. thats what i thought ,that it was a custom ,or custom auto or something. i googled it when i got home & found out how wrong i was, i got one immediately. great knife, super quality, rivals a custom in fit & finish!

I have a 4" drop point in black gmascus. It's a great knife. The quality is outstanding. The other posters have said all there is to say about this Fantastic knife.

I should carry mine more than I do. The only thing I would change would be is the clip......it stands out too much.

I am thinking of getting one. I like the honesty of the video displaying it's lock strength. It's just a good demo video without the circus. Looks like a good high quality product by a good company and talented designer.

I just ordered a Benchmade 710 and a 940. The Hogue was not even on my radar. I wish I would have seen this thread before I committed. I probably would have passed on the 940. Looks like I'll have to wait a little while and pick up a Hogue.
