hogue knives ?

I got the 4" drop point EX01 in black G-mascus, and I'm impressed. On mine it has a tiny bit of vertical blade play if held from the tip, but you have to wrench on it a fair amount to detect it - otherwise it's excellent.

Could you elaborate a little on the "horrible ergonomics"? I have the 3.5" in G-mascus and don't have any issues.

Ergonomics are ideal for me, and I have a 4" model. But everyone's hand is different. That's why we tell people to play with a knife before they follow enthusiastic recommendations.

For example, I was telling someone about palming a guardless knife for stabbing: tuck the butt into the heel of your hand. Out of curiosity, I tried it with my Hogue: no good, the handle is too long, and my fingers don't reach the index choil. Of course, with an index choil, I don't need to palm it, it's not that kind of knife.

Solid, great fit & finish, excellent button lock, aesthetic value.. but now I have to say it:
The balance is off, at least on the 3.5" G10 version. The linerless G10 handle feels too light compared to the blade, and although the grip provides plenty of traction, the knife doesn't feel properly anchored in my hand. Functionally this is almost insignificant, so it might qualify as an "ergonomic" issue.

Well i had to spend a couple of hours with a file to the handle to make it bearable to grip it hard and use it hard. Sharp edges everywhere.
I got the bigger aluminium handle version.
The actual shape isn't horrible, i have a mild dislike for sunken choils since they put your fingers at different levels which just feels awkward, on most knives of such design i own.
