Holds it's value?

is it me or just kind of pointless to have a knife and not cut with it. A car that you won't drive....a woman you won't....you get the idea

I thought I'd get this thread riled up

its not pointless at all to collectors, and if ya have 50 or 75 knives, how many can ya really use?

Busse knives pretty much all go up in value do to how they are released. I have only sold a few of mine, but every one has made me a nice profit.

Its a matter of opinion. Many of us will only buy well used items we desire because we dont care for Safe Queens.
This applies to both quality 80 year old doubles and pocket knives.

Other than cult favorite discontinued or limited runs:

Busse
Sebenza (folders)
Strider (folders)
Benchmade: 710, 707, 960 Any M2 design
Fallkniven solid VG-10 knives (newer ones are laminated with 420j)
Spyderco: Caly 3 (either version)

Those are what comes to mind right now.

benchmade red and blue class and kershaw always seem worth the money to me also striders are worth it in the long run, my father has had his for a loooooooooooong time

I'm thinking that Chris Reeve, William Henry, and Strider would hold their value pretty well.

Short term: whatever's HOT now.
Longterm: take a guess.
Sure thing?: Like panch0 said, "Buy Gold".

For everyday knives, not customs or the like, I have to say I've gotten the best resale out of Benchmade or Spyderco. CRKT has to be the worst---they depreciate like a Chrysler product!

IMO buying a new knife is kinda like getting that new car, you won't smoke in it ever.....until a month later when you get a dead bug glued to the grill and you say "what the Hell" and have a smoke:D I still have knives I have yet to get out of the box besides admiring them, but in the back of your head is the question of : will this thing become more valuable down the road, or is the manufacturer not going to make this next year and boy I'll get big $$$ on ebay for this thing. Kinda takes the joy of flippin that new knife outta your pocket to cut that letter open:rolleyes:

The first thing I did in my new car was fire up :D
