hey guys, those of you with folding knives with holes in the scales, like the ones in a lot of olamic knives, and other, do those holes feel awkward or odd in the hand?
Does it mess with the erogs at all?
does it make it uncomfortable to hold or use or mess with your grip at all?

thanks in advance.

They don't bother me. This one feels lighter and a bit grippier:

. . . but that's about it

I just emailed Eugene about getting another Swish with the acid rain holes, so it must not bother me. The green one is one of my very most favorite knives, FWIW.

Does the ZT 0801ti count? The holes are not awkward at all. In fact they add traction to the ti scale. And theyre aethetically pleasing.

I like the look. Some are purely for looks, but if thought out by the maker they can add grip and even leverage(to deploy blade). Regardless they look cool to me-probably some sick psychological reason.

all and any holes count.

It just seems like my hand would feel those holes too much and not feel right.
I might have to take a trip to BHQ one of these weeks and handle a few and see what I think. its just a bit of a far trip to try out some knives.
Im trying to plan my Olamic build, hah.

Ooohhhhhh..... that's a good one!

I used to hate the look. Now I love them, when done right. The holes on this one are very comfortable in hand, and that’s using a firm hammer grip.
I'm the opposite...I have a couple of knives from circa 2000 with holes in the handles, and I still like and carry them (sentimental value - after all, I've had them almost 20 yrs); but I dislike the feature now & can't bring myself to buy an otherwise desirable knife if it has holes.

I have never noticed them bothering my grip at all. It’s not something I conciously feel myself gripping unless I focus on them.

I tend to dislike them because I feel they give too much access to the blade by other objects in my pocket.

I know CRKT doesn't get much love here but I own a CRKT M16-14 (pre-LAWSK) and it has plenty of holes in the scales. It was my first modern folder like 20 years ago.

I don't use it much because it is quite heavy but when I do, the holes don't bother me at all.

Boker Urban Trapper Ti feels great, extremely light. I find the polished blade showing through the Ti scale holes very attractive.

I've found on folders with thin ti scales, like these pictured, they actually enhance the grip.

I have a BM 760 LFTi that has holes. In addition to looking great they can't hurt in the grip department and certainly aren't uncomfortable.

I always wanted a set of Keyman custom holey scales for one of my 710s. These are on my KW exclusive M390 -1401. They make a knife that's a classic, ergonomic masterpiece feel even more solid in hand.

Is there some magic involved as how one gets a reply from him?
