Holey cow!

Mr. Glesser, Fuller, and 4 s ter, and All,

Mr. Glesser, your case for presenting your ideas publically on the Forums is well made, and I appreciate your clarification of your goals and intent. Sincerely, thank you. :) I think that I may have been biased in my thinking of this aspect of the issue based upon my friendship with Neil, and to that end, I apologize. Your reasoning for engaging in public debate has been validated in my mind.

Returned admiration is also due for your loyalty and dedication to your employees. However, I still steadfastly disagree with your assessment of their prowess given the extent of the breach at-hand, but if alone for your having stood behind them and still standing behind them now, as someone engaged in training which will one day land myself, hopefully, in a position of leadership, I hope that I will see you at Blade this summer, and will be able to shake your hand (not that this is the only reason, for, as I cited previously, I truly am a fan of many of your works, and this will be my first chance to thank you for them).

FullerH and 4 s ter - Points well taken on the modifications and their scales of impact. And yep, 4 s ter, there's a story, but its' a long and boring one. :)

-----

All - as for other points? My main concern remains.

We definitely are airing our worries and our concerns here, and that, now that I understand better Mr. Glesser's view, definitely I can see the validity in doing so.

However, I still believe that it truly has come time to settle this in a big-boy way, and that as fellow enthusiasts, we laymen should not let this affect our friendships and our dedication towards each other as knife enthusiasts.

:)

Hi Allen, Thank you for your patience and kind understanding. I will look forward to meeting you in Atlanta.

From here it appears as though you are trolling to instigate a fight betwen the two companies for your own curiosity?

I'm not trying to troll, it is not my intention to troll or to instigate a fight for curiousity. Merely stating that this may isn't going to be solved on a forum. I can see both sides of the issue, and believe there could be excellent arguments for both. If it could be solved out of court all the better, but all speculation won't go away until that happens.

I am sorry that you mistook my intentions as negative ones. I don't intend to post again.

I don't want to see a fight: I want to see Benchmade either reach a licensing agreement with Spyderco; modify their 630 Skirmish so that it no longer contains a round opening hole; or pull it off of the market. Les knows better, so this disappoints me.

I saw the Skirmish at IWA and I will withold my opinion on how this knife was being demo'd... Lets just say I was surprised how "combat and weapons" like the company had become in its sales style. Perhaps that is just what shows are like?

However, respect and credit where its due, and with Spyderco it most certainly is!

Grab or not to grab, business profit over ethics... My money goes to the ethical company that provides the products I like. Spyderco is on that list... Benchmade is not. I have bought a 806 axis as I wanted one for so long... It will probably be my last Benchmade knife. Ever! :p

Benchmade would be highly unlikely to respond on a forum (like this one), where they couldn't control every word. Mr. Glesser, on the other hand, responds to most all of our threads.

Thanks, Sal, for being such a stand up guy.

Your honesty, integrity, and sense of fair play is truly refreshing.

Mike
