Holiday knife buys - Spain.

Same as you 5K Qs I shall have to remember to take photos in the future, at the time of touring & purchasing a thread was the last thing on my mind........

It seems strange considering how the Taramundi's in all their different forms seem harder to find in carbon, especially seeing they are just about the most basic traditional knife you're likely to find!

Good to see that Joker knife, I had been told that model had been discontinued, and it is no longer in their (international) catalogue, or available here in the UK.

Jack, I just googled " joker no74" & the first two UK suppliers showed them in limited stock, didn't check any more. Maybe your using the wrong model number?

I'm really extremely happy with that knife, even knowing that it wasn't what the seller claimed it was.
The problem is not if it is or not a good knife. Why call this Laguiole???
About provenance, lots of cheap "Spanish " knives are simply Pakistanese or Chinese parts assembled in Spain. Thus no indication of origin. But examining the steel would tell a lot.

I agree. But, please let's not turn this thread into yet another one of those threads.

There certainly are knives made in China & Pakistan in Spain as there are in most countries, but as far as I'm aware knives are not assembled in Spain from parts, why bother for a knife costing a few Euros.

If the knife was a fake of a US make I guess the language would be different, whatever the price, every penny counts. Fakes wherever they come are a plague...
New Testament wisely says "give back to Ceasar what belong to Ceasar..."

Let us know what you do with that Muela handle. A little rounding of the edges perhaps?

Removed some metal to make the grip bigger & the guard area smaller, then rounded the olive wood some.
