Sent two packages, one on 12/14 to Victoria Australia and one on 12/18 to Skokie Ill (about 6 hours away). To this day, neither package has arrived. I'm not so worried about the one going to Illinios because it is insured and I can file a claim (if need be), but packages going across seas can't be insured or tracked:mad:
Now, I have the knives sent to me, but the other members in the trade don't!!! And I dont want people to think that I'm trying to screw them!

Canada Post and USPS are bad at the best of times but should be avoided at holiday season. Knives shipped to or from me either arrive in record quick time or else arrive 14 days later than normal. I have 4 knives in the system today, all mailed well in advance of Xmas and still not delivered. It makes it very difficult to advise buyers as to number of days on delivery and if you inquire at the post office you get that usuall vague look! Best hold the knives for an extra couple of days and mail after the Xmas rush. Mike:(

I can relate.
Have a watch coming from the SF area that is getting close to three weeks and not here
Another Omega GMT coming from Austin Tx that is about the same
Check from Sf area that is later than both!!!!!!

:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

It is my understanding that since we got in bed with fedex:barf: and since 9/11, commercial airlines are flying virtually none of our {USPS} packages now.The commercial airlines used to fly the BULK of USPS prioritry pkgs.

Resident Postal guy here...{and proud of it}
It's not us, it's the people that run it:rolleyes:
Oh, and don't blame me for the rate increase. That's up to the board of governors, I guess.

I have traditionally found the USPS to be very reliable and inexpensive way to ship. I concur that it has been a disaster recently (16 days to Hawaii, 10 days to NC etc)

As far as price increases go. USPS has a tough job, provide service to all areas regardless of the profitability of the route (unlike private carriers) and very high costs (labor etc). If the time delays can be rectified it is still the best deal.

I wish they would raise the rates. I would gladly pay more for reliable service. I wish they would pay the mail carriers more, too; then they could hire someone who can tell the difference between 97 3rd St. and 93 7th St. to deliver my mail, unlike the burnt-out old hippie who's doing it now. UPS in my area is even worse. I don't care how much it costs -- I'm as cheap as the next fellow, but I'd pay whatever it costs to get reliability.

Maybe just a waste asking for a rate increase to improve service. They raised them here in Canada to all points in North America about 6 weeks ago and the service got worse! Sorry to the postal worker but those I know in this country just don't care and take the jobs for granted. This should get me a kick or two in the head but I just "call em Like I see em":( Mike

I have had orders take a full calender month before getting to me using USPS and Canada Post. On the flip side I recieved a $70 order from 1SKS shipped UPS in 9 days. However, shipping was $18 plus another $22 in brokerage charges. My order plus 57% for freight. What a burn, for that price I can wait for USPS/CanPost.

Jazzman....
Any luck yet?
Cheers,
Gord.

i'm waiting for a package sent with usps EXPRESS MAIL from TAD to me (austria) since 12-14-01, the usps tracking system told me the package left the states on 12-16-01 but never arrived in austria since then. i have no clue where it is. on other hand, i had a package from the states which was sent 2 days before this one that arrived 3 days later. i'm getting concerned.

I wondered where that dyslexic patrolman I fired went to! I let him go because he kept writing IUDs...:)

Cougar, I wish that an increase in rates would lead to better service. The post office has significant labor and system problems and has management and unions that do not seem to be able to overcome them. It does a good job despite this but I fear there will always be problems.

The people at my local post office are very nice but slow. The mail to my house can be delivered anywhere from 9am to 4pm and it varies day to day. Postal employees are relatively well paid for the level of skill and expertise it takes to do their job and I do not think paying them more will guarantee an increase in performance.

Please do not take this as a slam on postal workers and I do not begrudge them their salary. The question is if they were employed by a private corporation would they be paid the same for the work they do? I doubt it.

The post office is stuck being a quasi governmental corporation that is bound by a huge beauracracy, political pressures, and strong unions. Without increases in productivity, no matter how much rates are increased there still will be problems.

edited a few spelling errors

I was quite upset to find out that a knife I purchased on12/16/01 via e-bay was shipped on 12/21/01 from Ma and got as far as Warrendale Pa that same day.It took until 12/28/01 to come accross the State of Pa.I could have walked there in less time.I also purchased another knife on 12/17/01 via e-bay and was just notified by the seller that it won't be shipped until Tomorrow(12/31/01).Both of these transactions involved postal Money orders and never should have taken this long to conclude. On one hand it was slow postal service for one deal the other was a bad seller. No more e-bay dealings for Me.Prior to Thanksgiving I sent a knife to Ca and 3 Day Priority took 9 days. The recipient was worried sick by day 7 while I atttempted to locate the missing knife.Needless to say I was spitting bullets.I've had nothing but GOOD luck with transactions on this Forum and will continue to do trade and purchase here. Thanks for listening to My rantings.Happy New Year.tom.

I mailed off some Boy Scout stuff to Piet Small Packet Air from Woodland Park on the 8th. Piet emailed me yesterday, no packet yet... I get an email today, it shows up almost a month later. Yea USPS! Raise them rates and lower the service!

Chief, I understand THAT ex-patrolman of yours is NOW my POST MASTER!!!

I keep shipping and nothing seems to leave my Post Office. I also think he handles the incoming for UPS on the side. I seem to get nothing.....

It appears the standard three-day shipping means One day from the NEXT three consecutive MONTHS!!!!

But, there is no other way:( :(
