Hi All.

Had a request for a hollow grind on a concave blade. A small one like the push knives I sell. I dont think it can be done on a grinder. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Ken

By concave blade, do you mean like a hawkbill?

If so I would imagine that you use the edge of the wheel and keep the blade angled so that the tip is toward you. I've never done it but that approach seems to make sense to me.

Yes like a hawkbill. How about a 3 or a 4 inch wheel that tapers out in the center. I wonder if KMG makes anything like that.

I believe it was bruce bump(not 100% sure...) who recently commented on a thread about narrowing a contact wheel to 1" in order to do just what you're talking about.

Im going to give Rob a cal over at Beaumont Metal Works (KMG grinders) see if he has anything. I only have to wheels to grind on a 10 and 5 inch I use them both so I am not ready to possibly trash one yet. One way or another I am going to get this done. I will let you know how it goes. Ken

Talked to Rob over at Beaumont today. He said he would grind down a 4 or 5 inch wheel and get it out to me to try when he has a chance. Ill keep you informed. Ken
