Hollow Grind question

I am making my blades out of A2 and or O1 and grinding them with a Wilton 1"x42" belt sander. I am unable to get the hollow grind I am looking for with it. I can eventually get a good angle on it but it doesn't look as professional as I would like. Is there a trick to useing these grinders that I can't find? The wheel seems too small to grind against. Are there any easy modifications that can be done to get a better grind out of it?
Thanks

You need to use a round wheel and I suggest a 2X72 belt. If you like, you can take a peak at mine in the shop, I illustrate the grinder and the wheels that I use here in my shop. I also have links to knife supplies and more.

Get some good literature on making knives and Johnny Stout has a great video on doing the job. Texas Knife supplies offer one of his videos. Johnny is one of the good old boys and a good friend of mine. Hope this was of help.

That sander is better suited for a flat grind, you may want to do flat for a while and then get a machine better suited for hollow. The more expensive grinders have a host of attachments and wheels that really are not available for other machines.

You might be able to make a radiused platen for the sander, but the machine isn't really made for hollow grinding.
