Hollow grinding advice

I'm working on learning to hollow grind right now, and I'm wondering if there are any good tutorials or videos floating around out there. I can't afford to drop the money on DVDs right now, although I'd like to get some in the near future.

I'm using an 8-inch contact wheel on a decent home built KMG-clone grinder. I can slow the grinder down to around 500 SFM, and my top speed is probably around 2,000.

One thing I'm struggling with is where to start the groove. Tip? Plunge? Do you start near the edge and walk the grind back or begin more toward the middle of the blade? What speed and grit would you suggest to begin the grind? Should I use a work rest or grind freehand?

Thanks for any help you can offer,
Josh

this is how i do it.

i first grind a 45 along the edge that goes to the center line. i then start walking the grind up the blade untell im where i want to be. with a 8" wheel your onley going to beable to get around .9" grind on 1/4" stock. dont use a rest, learn how to do it free style and you will be ahead of the game. o ya my center line is around 1/32" wide plus.

also i start with 60 grit blaze at around 4000 sfpm i would like to go faster but that is as fast as it goes. use what ever speed you feal comfortable with but i think a higher speed makes it a tuch easyer.

if you want me to record my self grinding i can.
