I have asked the question about hollow grinding, and recieved an answer. Now that I know what it is, I want to see how you guys do it. Even if it is just an explanation..I want to know how you guys are set up when you perform this operation. What type of grinder? Diameter of the rock? Fixture? Things like that.. Pics would be great!

Also what in the world is G-10? I mean I know it is a handle material, but is it synthetic??

Thanks guys

Hi, most folks hollow grind on a belt grinder with a contact wheel. THere are some folks that use stone wheels, but it's not like the bench grinders you see at the hardware store. Have a look at grinders like the KMG (google beaumont metal works), Bader and Coote. The higher end grinders can change between different wheels, usually .5" all the way up to 16" for 72" grinders.

G10 is a fiberglass and epoxy composite. Google G10 or Garolite for more info on G10 and its family.

Check out my site and take the Shop Tour and you will see some of the things I use to produce a knife. If you need more help call me.

That and SRJ's famous "subhilt" video. I recommend SRJ's - as you will learn, in 2
DVDs, everything you need to know about making a fixed blade AND a whole lot about
hollow grinding. If you can spare 30 bux, rent all 3.
