Hollow grinding time!

[120 Acres]

Going to try my first free-hand hollow grinding tonight. Any advice or tips to keep in mind? I've been going over the process in my head all week.

Will be on a Bader 102 I believe.

My tip would be to grind on some mild steel and make a practice run so you don't ruin some good steel

Thanks. That's what I did, and its in the trash bin now. After a bit I found my groove, but it was too late for that chunk of metal. I got a better idea what to do next time.

for new stuff i cut out a knife shape from thin wood and using 120 grit, try grinding/experimenting.

Oh, I like that. I've got some paneling that I've been using to make templates. I might just give that a shot too. Thanks.
