I know that hollow grinds are good for slicing, but is their a big enough difference in the capability of a hollow grind and a flat grind to want to prefer one for another.
I am going to start making knives soon and i hear a lot of talk about hollow grinds and i want to know if it is worth the time and the money to try and learn.

Hollow grinds are easier in a lot of ways than flat grinds. The hollow bevels "sits" on the wheel and makes grinding the bevels easier. You just need a wheel which you can use for a lot of other jobs.

On the other hand you more of less NEED a grinder with a wheel to execute hollow grinds. You can do flat grinds with simple hand tools.
