Hello, I've always wondered how the hollow handled survival knives from the 1980s were made? I'm specifically interested in the Buck 184/ buckmaster as I have seen many of them in rough shape but with the blade/handle junction still solid. I'm starting in knifemaking, and, as an 80's kid, I would like to make an old school survival knife at some point. Is it a milled slot in the handle that the tang is pressed into? Epoxy filled? Thanks for any info!

They were probably welded? The buckmaster is cool knife. I just sold mine to make some shop cash. I think sheffield supply sells hollow handles for knives or one of the other supply houses.
