Hollow handle knife suggestion (to store basic fishing gear)

The Schrades really aren't bad. They're one piece construction, 1070 steel, and around $45. Not made in the US, but I'm afraid you're not likely to get a US made hollow handle for the budget you listed.

Cold Steel Bushman and Bowie Bushman work too, though they're socket handles so you'd have to make your own stopper to close it up.
