Hollow Handle Survival Knife Durability

Thanks for that photo. I know you're showing how strong the HH joint is, but I'm also curious about the steel alloy, the hardness and how far (degrees) you had to bend it to exceed its yield strength.

You must have used a lot of leverage to bend a blade at that point in its thickness.

Nice work.

I did have a Buck 184 back in the day. The problem wasn't the strength of the connection; the problem was the heavy geometry. I also tied the knife to a rope to test out the usefulness of the grappling hooks. Only did that once. Potential problems were pretty obvious from using the grappling feature, especially with that big blade, the hooks and that much metal coming back at me fast. Sort of like throwing a boomerang for the first time, and for a second or two, you're happy to see it coming back. Fast.

Still, it was a lot of fun.
HOW the blade is attached to the hollow handle tube ?? pictures ? Drawing ?

as a one-time collector of "pretty" crks, mostly wood-paneled, i had to have that hollow one in A2.
i kept it just long enuf to make an appt with a shrink....why in hell did i buy this?
there is no way to index your grip...and it gave me chills.
ridiculous idea for a knife...at least could have "formed" the forward and mid-part of the grip in order to
be able to properly index and grip the knife.

I am happy with the CS Bushman and SK-5 is great. Not storing anything in it, just wanna have a knife spear I can reach things with.

I doubt I will ever have occasion to make a spear, but with 10-20” inches of handle you can have a handy impromptu brush-cutting tool. Plus, they are cheap, almost like Moras. Keep one in the car, one in your overnight bag. Easier to pack than a machete, find your handle where you need it.
