Since the Lile knives are no longer available, who, in everyone's opinion, makes the current best hollow handle survival style knife ?
How do you compare Farid, Wilson, and Crane knives to each other ?
Which is best of those three ?
Any others you think is better ?
Thanks, for any replies or recommendations.

Ray Laconico, knifemaker and member here, makes some pretty good looking hollow handled survival knives, clip point or drop point.
He's working on one for me that should be done pretty soon.
5160 only,if that matters.

the lile and RJ martin knives you reffered too.

the RJ Martin knives are 9inch blade and 10inch blade CPM S30V steel and are completely solid. exceptionally well made.

whats the point when you can have a pouch and a hollow in the handle for extra gear.

now please tell me that hollow handle knives that are made right are weak...!!!

i'll put an RJ up against anyhting.

I remember your First Blood,Jimmy Lile #16 from another forum and the RJ Martin's look exceptional as well.

yep, its been on a few now. trying to get other owners to post their pics. not much luck though.

don't happen to know where a mission could be...??? as the owner of #16 mission won't sell at any cost.

does not have to be numbered just needs the black blade finish. any help is much appreciated.

cheers.

I have a huge custom camp/battle style knife in CPM 3V on order that I'm supposed to get next May so don't need a hollow handle to store stuff in.
Actually, I couldn't care less about storing gear in a hollow handle knife.
I just think they look cool and would like to own one.
I like the looks of the Farid best, of the ones mentioned so far.
How does the Farid compare to the others in build quality ?
Anyone know ?
Or, who makes the current strongest built hollow handle knife of the bunch ?
Could have bought a new Lile for only $600.00 years ago.
Should have; what a mistake !!! :(

chris reeve knives are one piece construction so many people would go with one of his knives. i have owned a shadow I and can vouch for quality also.

the thing is all of todays custom makers of hollow handle knives do it RIGHT........so none of them will let you down. when people slate them their getting confused with immitation or cheap mass produced versions.

as for farid i have never owned one but hear very good things from people who do. you might want to get another sheath made for it though as the one that comes with the knife sucks.

Thanks for the information, FT-UK.
As for Chris Reeve, I know they are built really well but they don't do a thing for me in the looks department.

Looks like a straight bang job of Crain's design.

Not that I care at all, but it lacks originality.

The handle looks disproportionally narrow compared to the blade.
