Hollowdweller, bee question.

We have a small business where I make bird and bat boxes. I added to the inventory, Bee Blocks and Toad Tee Pees. The customers are really interested in the bee and toad houses! It's good to see folks getting interested and wanting to lend a hand to, not just birds and bats, but also bees and toads!

Man, where was I when this thread started? The gun (not the smoking gun) we have right now is the IAPV, Israeli Acute Paralysis Virus. The newest development is that a hive in a green house was inoculated with it and crashed, but we are still waiting to see the final numbers etc. What we think most is that it is a combination of this and many other instances. The mite is the big problem, that was mentioned before. We have beekeepers who aren't treating their hives correctly, and we are getting serious resistance to it. I just was in Florida looking at bees, and we haven't heard much about CCD from them either right now. The bee block is for a mason bee and a blue orchard bee.

So Baumeister used a special vacuum and a box to gently suck up the bees which were not especially happy about it. He'll later transport them to a safe area.

I like honey bees and everything, but you would have to pay me a LOT to do this! :(

Sure, they're cute and fuzzy, but if you make 'em mad.... kinda like dames. :D

Yvsa, have you done any less-than wholesome seaches for said E-surance gal? ;)
