Well, just after I withdrew this knife, thinking it was too nice to sell, somebody emailed me and bought it! I have been doing a lot of buying, selling and trading lately, my head hurts, in any case, this bad boy is
Yes, you read correctly, and, not only is this a top of the line, presentation grade Fisk Sendero, it is the nicest one I have ever seen, and I have had several high-end collectors tell me the same, but hey, don't take my word for it, the pictures are decent, but the knife is much better in person.
Well, for starters, the stag presentation Sendero is probably Jerry's signature knife, this one isn't bone, ironwood, or some such nonsense...
It is classic, and KILLER stag! Perfectly, seamlessly mortised, the guard and pins are engraved by Jerry, this is of course a sole authorship knife.
The damascus deserves special mention, it is his Wolfstooth pattern, but the layering is so exceptionally fine, and the ladder "teeth" are so well done, the blade actually shimmers in the light, appears to "drip", creating an optical illusion of sorts, some might call it chatoyant. You have to see it in person, a camera isn't capale of showing what I'm talking about. However nice it looks in the pics, it's about 100 times more impressive in person. And, this is not an OLD Sendero that was knocked around, going from collection to collection, I bought this knife brand new from Knife-Art, who had, in turn gotten it directly from Jerry about a year and a half ago, and it has been expertly cared for by me, and is absolutely dead mint gorgeous, not a scratch, blemish or flaw anywhere.
Blade is razor sharp to the tip, and, the fit of the blade to the guard is seamless as seamless can be, 100% perfect. The spine forward of the handle has a very grippy, milled thumb ramp, these Senderos are gorgeous knives, but they are all supremely capable of the hardest use, of course, I would never use a knife like this, but who knows, maybe somebody does?
Don't fail to notice that the blade is differentially tempered, with a very visible and distinct temper line.
Now, of the few engraved, presentation stag Senderos I have seen for sale, this one is clearly at the top of the heap, the quality of the stag alone sets it apart, as does the phenomenal damascus, with those onion-thin layers and chatoyance, and, again, this one is dead mint, and has been in a single collection, mine, and few are as anal or careful as I am with knife care.
Anyway, those "inferior", if a Sendero can be said to be inferior, senderos were generally priced at $1750-$1850. And, by the way, you can not lose $$$ on this knife, any Sendero, but especially one as sweet as this, if you ever tire of it, you are assured of getting back your money, maybe more, or trading into something VERY nice, and probably worth a lot more money. I believe Jerry's wait time recently hit 20 years!!! Then, he did the sensible thing and stopped taking orders from what I understand. They say knives aren't good investments, well, that's generally true, except here.
The price on this knife is fair, firm and the first to email me and say they will take it, gets this marvel, and possibly most sought after mastersmith knife for $1895 shipped fully insured, overnight. You might eventually find one with lesser stag, less distinctive and elegant engraving, and a less interesting damascus pattern, that bounced around for years and is all scuffed up for a little less, but why? Penny-wise, pound foolish comes to mind. This one is perfect and drop dead gorgeous.
Though there is no chance you won't love it, you are free to return it in the same dead mint condition for a refund. Can't see that happening, but it's nice to know.
Because this is a high ticket knife, if you choose PayPal, please add 3%. Otherwise, a postal MO is ideal.
OK, there, for sale the one knife I never thought I'd offer, but, I need some major cash fast, and I figured this was one of my best options. I have owned and enjoyed it in my collection for a while, took a few nice pics of it, now it's your turn, if you dare to own the best...
Of course, in addition to supreme bragging rights should you be the lucky new owner, you also are free to save and use my pictures as you see fit. I spent considerable time getting these shots, plus, I have a bunch more I'll send to the new owner.
Good luck.
