Back in the early 1990’s (1991-93) there was an antiques store called Princeton Antiques in Cleveland Ohio .
They specialized in photographic, vintage watches and vintage knives. At that time Benchmade would open up just about anyone with a storefront. One nice thing about it was that they had no minimum order requirement at that time. Now of course it’s a different story. Now the owner of the store was very interested in the Bali-Songs and custom ordered one for himself. He kept this pair of Bali-Song until this year, when he decided to trade it to me for one of my knives.
This one had this model specially made sometime around 1992 where the owner of the store order this Bali-Song. Unfortunately there is no longer have any documentation on it and was lightly flipped by the owner. When I got this this from the owner in a trade, I wanted to preserve it as it was as much as possible but keep it clean. Well, I got in touch with Dianna Daniels from Benchmade's Lifesharp department. I told her the whole story and asked if I could send it in to have to look over everything and clean it up a bit and also verify that this was indeed a authentic Benchmade Bali-Song. She was very nice about everything and I sent the knife in. She looked everything over when she got the knife and told me that back when this was ordered, the cost of the customs were $375 for the 4” blade and $425 for the 5” blade. There was no paperwork available for the knife back then. This was just recently returned back to me with the paperwork, you see in the picture. They did not charge me anything at all. You will notice under item number, it says "CUSTOM" you will also notice that this on the spine of the blade it says ATS-34, so that is the metal of the blade. This one has a bowie clip point blade and the ivory micarta inserts. These was made in very limited numbers.
This will include a black Benchmade box provided by Benchmade's Lifesharp department. They also included a Benchmade sheath. I also have the one I got with this Bali-Song that I got from the original owner.
