HOLY GRAIL!

For my own tastes, that's a lot of ugly. Maybe outright ugly is strong, but it sure isn't attractive to my eyes. To be honest, if it was a $10 knife I might be making fun of it.
Personal taste and all, but if I were in the economic class that tosses around that kind of money & I actually cared about status symbols, that wouldn't be it.

As for investment potential of anything like such knives, art, & even real estate in overheated markets like NY, LA, Toronto, & London the value stems from the perception that others value it highly. The moment it stops doing so, the bottom drops out.

Nah, already had one and the centering was terrible....

Why buy that when I could get myself 1,875 Buck 110's???

Things are only worth what people think they are worth. Gold is just a pretty rock that is found in less quantities than say something like Quartz. It has value in use for things like electronics which to me gives it more value than as just something pretty to look at on your finger or around your neck.

even if I had the money to buy a $75000 knife I wouldn't as I just cant see what could be done with the materials its made of to make it worth that much money. They slapped a bunch of sapphires and diamonds on a handle and that jacks the price through the roof. Im sure fit and finish is good but for some reason it looks a bit more crude than it should for $75000.

I am always impressed by the amazing fit and finish some makers here on Bladeforums accomplish down to a level that is just incredible . Lines and grinds and joints that are just perfection. and for me true art is when form and function work in tandem to a level beyond the average/norm

1. If you charge enough for something, someone will probably buy it.

2. Our own CM started a W&C thread titled "Single finger knucks for $800 and other finery(sp)".

Not that this is not a fine knife, but the bang/buck ratio could possibly qualify it for said thread.

There's what, $200 worth of silver max, Swarovski Gems (way over priced & rated), and a Damascus blade. If this were done by a famous artist & carried by Tiffany, I'm thinking maybe $10,000 & then the only buyers would be the extremely rich foreign tourists in their New York store. I have the feeling that China could reproduce this knife in real silver & the Swarovski Gems for $100. It doesn't appeal to me as a piece of art or craft. For me this is a $75,000 joke. Companies will make theses things with a very expensive price tag, so when you look at their $600 items they appear ridiculously inexpensive. Marketing gimmick.

This exactly. It wouldn't be $75000 even with complete solid gold and more gems.

I just looked at their "On The Wrist" collection. As Margret Cho once said it couldn't be any Gayer unless it had a _____ in it's mouth. I'm not Homophobic, just not a big fan of some of their fashion.

It must be something to be able to look at spending $75000 like the rest of us slobs see spending $500

I think marketing may be the actually motivation for them on this one. start internet chatter and get an increase in hits on the website. I bet this thread alone got them another 500 hits today !!!

I think someone should take one for the team and click the Buy It Now button and see what happens. Do they call you personally or do you just get a Paypal address to send funds to ?

No way would I, and I think it is hideous, but I am sure someone will and that's fine.

It's funny, years ago I found this uber gaudy engagement ring on the ground laying in some rocks. The center stone is an ~ 2ct Diamond, and it has a ton of smaller diamonds in it as well. I've held on to it with no real use for it.

I'd recently been kicking around the idea of producing a limited run of knives that in some way each incorporated one of the Diamond's into the scale. Nothing garish and over the top like this, just a cool Ti (or Timascus) Framelock flipper, high end blade steel, and a few cool embellishments like marbled CF, Stingray, and the one Diamond.

I had no intention of charging anywhere near $75k for it. Maybe I should look seriously into it.

I'd just have the ring cleaned/restored/appraised and sell it.

Would anybody pay this much for a knife? I mean a Rockstead, Shirogorov, Todd Begg etc. is one thing but this seems a little ridiculous. At some point it's just a jewelry showpiece! Idk what do you think

You're not paying for a knife there. Sure, it happens to be a knife, but it could just as easily be a watch, a decorative egg, etc. It's a piece of art and a work of fine craftsmanship.

I get the price, but I don't get the purchase. Probably because I don't have that kind of money to throw around.

Even if I was so rich that I had money falling out of my butt, I would never pay $75k for a knife. Maybe if it was hand carved out of titanium and covered in diamonds that totaled close to $75k in raw materials. Just not my thing.

I have paid almost $10k for a guitar and multiple thousands for Rolex, Omega and Tag watches over the years though, so to each their own.

That knife isn’t a smart purchase IMO, but I saw a new crap brown Bentley SUV this week that some clown paid almost $300k for. One of the ugliest vehicles I have ever seen, so whatever turns your crank I guess.... :D

Yes, someone would/will buy that knife. Would I? Nope. Not even if Bill Gates passed and mysteriously made me his sole heir. :D

Hey I like that knife and even though I'm saving up for a BM 943, I think I'll change my direction and go for that beauty... Oh yah baaabbbyyy....
