I have been looking around some places listing Case knifes, and man, are there a lot of handlematerials to choose from. Many limitid but sometimes several of them. It get an awful lot of knifes. I must say I dislike most of the materials but this rizes a question for me.

If I like the chestnut bone CV series of knifes.
How long is these knifes going to be prodused?
Should I be in a hurry to bye what I want?

Im kind of impressed but also a little shocked in an unspesific way. Who byes al these handlematerials, I must tell you I find some of them quite strange!!!

I know what you mean. There's some stuff from Case that I find interesting but the amount of variations and editions is pretty overwhelming. Add to that the model numbering system, not to mention all the generations and the dating systems and sometimes it feels like a right veritable swamp. :D

Yes, there is a confusing amount of Case knives made with almost unlimited handle material. At least it seems that way to me as well every time I get a new Smoky Mountain Knifeworks catologue in the mail with Case's I've never seen before.

Who buys them?

The members of the Case cult of course, of whom I have to list myself as being one of them. Lord knows I've bought peanuts in the past with amber bone, bone stag, chestnut bone, not to mention good old yellar. They when I was in my sodbuster phase, I had large and small soddies, in Both CV and stainless.

Don'y worry though, I have a feeling that as long as there is a Case company, there will be CV knives. If we're lucky, they just may increase the models that CV is available in.

My only hope is to see the company survive the economic rough times we are going through.

I wouldn't think that Chestnut Bone is going to be dropped or 'vaulted' in the near future. Mind you, look what happened to Bonestag, one of their best handle options.......

Quite a lot of the special editions and collector specials are pretty odd it's true, even tasteless sometimes...but they obviously appeal and likely bring in profits. CASE have expanded their Chestnut Bone cv range and brought in interesting models with G-10 that look very nice, I'm particularly interested in their new American Workman series. The real problem for me with CASE is that their website has only drawings/renderings of knives not proper photographs.

Its shame Bonestag was vaulted, I am happy to have 6.5 Bonestag medium stockman and its really nice. Amber bone is too. I don't think Chestnut bone is going anywhere very soon, but you never know. You should buy your favourite pattern in chestnut bone JIC.

Case does make a lot of different scale materials and designs.
Although I personally don't care for a lot of them, it keeps a broader market appeal IMO. I think there are a lot of people that just collect all the different versions, so that helps their bottom line.
And in todays economy thats a great thing. Anything they can do to keep the doors open and maybe bring along new enthusiasts to the "good side " :D

The Chestnut is one of my most favorite materials they have had for a long time.
I have to be honest, I don't own any of them, but looking at the pics of others, I do need to get one.

There are a lot of models, but luckily for me it's narrowed down significantly by how many Tru-Sharp only models there are. I'll only consider buying their CV knives, so I don't have nearly as many to sort through. Yay for me?

Same here, I'll take stainless Case models in trade but generally I only purchase cv knives. There is however, a Russlock on my Christmas list.;)
