Holy S**T thats fast!

You're right. Physics is not something we can skew. Been having a discussion with my riding buddies on this all day, with lots of math thrown around. The basic formula of "Point A to Point B at a set time = real speed" makes perfect sense. We're still suspect that the actual speed is 205MPH since you're extrapolating by a factor of about 1:800.

205 mph does not mean that you actually have to go 205 miles. It's just a way of measuring speed. The guy may only hold that speed for a second--if he crashes in that second, it's a 205 mph crash, even if he was going 120 mph 10 seconds earlier.

While I don't doubt the gentleman was going really really fast, it has been confirmed that he was riding a Honda RC51. This bike might hit 170 on a good day but 205 if faster than Honda's Factory race bikes in Moto GP. The bicentenial mark seems to be the hardest to pass on a standard motorcycle due to aerodynamics. It takes lots of horespower to overcome the drag that occurs at the higher speed.

Stop watches more accurate than radar? LOL.

Mean Reaction Times

For about 120 years, the accepted figures for mean simple reaction times for college-age individuals have been about 190 ms (0.19 sec) for light stimuli and about 160 ms for sound stimuli (Galton, 1899; Fieandt et al., 1956; Welford, 1980; Brebner and Welford, 1980).

I would have the guy pressing the stp watch do a reaction time test. Let's see how reliable he is. Then compare to radar gun.

If he was at the mean for a young person he could still be off. Of cours the bike would be going faster if he was slower. Or more likely he anticipates and hits it faster to pad the ticket.

I would just take the RC51 and show it can't go 205, ticket invalid, case closed.

In my younger days (5 years ago), I was pulled over going 102 in a 45 (57mph over), as I was accellerating down a hill. I got up to about 125, then immediately backed off. At the time, I didn't have my cycle endorsement. The cop, who was dumb-founded I had pulled over for him, wrote me for 10 over and sent me on my way. Talk about lucky.

That was the last ticket I have ever been given.

hard to run 200+ on the street, i have gotten up to 150 or so but ya are going so fast ya dont have time to look at the speedo, only a quick glance.

supposedly my vette runs around 170 or so, i know it hits overdrive drive @ 140mph, and feels "solid" at high speed, there is a sticker on the driver door which says " for high speed/competitive (over 150mph) driving add 5lbs of air to tires (35lbs cold)" all my buds laugh at that, oh and i run the tires at 35 lol.

one bud who has a '96 turbo supra got a 155 in a 55 ticket, he was only 17 yrs old, his dad screamed about the insurance price, wasnt happy at all......

but 200 on a bike is wayyyy too fast for me
