Holy Sh!t, I Have Just Cut My Finger, OFF !!!!!!

No, not really, but I was interested in the worst injury you have ever inflicted on your self, of course it has to be using a knife.
HAHHAHAHA

you had me going man, I thougth you really lost a finger.

Accidentally back-cut myself in the head with a custom Hell's Belle. Bled like a busted faucet, clipped a lock of hair. Boyyyy, did I feel dumb.....

Worse cut I ever recieved was not very bad, but I felt very stupid. It was at work, and I was working with a box cutter. I had just finished whatever I had been doing, and didn't push the blade back in. I turned, and knocked my elbow against something, pushing my arm across my body, and the cutter across my bicep. It opened about a 2 1/2 inch cut, that fortunately was just deep enough to cut through all the skin, but didn't cut into the muscle. It felt like a mild scratch, and hardly bled at all, but it was disturbing looking at the skin pulled back and seeing the muscle.

I do know everything, I just can't remember it all right now.

My worst was while chopping sticks with my SOG SEAL 2K. It was a dark night, about 0100, and we had buried my friend's truck in a mud bog. Yes, we had been enjoying "Adult Medicinal Beverages". We were trying to shove sticks under the tires to get some traction. The SOG was being used to dig in the mud as well. I think it was pretty dull when I started chopping. One large branch took a glancing blow and the blade ended up chopping into my left thumb, where it joins the hand. I was wearing some Aviator's Nomex gloves and didn't even notice that I had cut myself, until we sent the sober driver out to get someone to pull us out at 0600. The sun was coming up and I noticed my left golve was not only brown from the mud, but quite red as well. It healed fine, and I now have a nice jagged scar on my thumb, to remind me how stupid it is to be intoxicated and play with weapons.

My Knives

Yikes. This thread reminds me of my exacto knife cut. Trimming my son's plastic model and shaved the side of my thumb right off! It took forever for the skin to grow back. It really makes you realize just how much you use your thumb!!!

Yeah, exactos are almost like little poisonous snakes. They don't look all that nasty, until you let up your guard and gouge an impressive slit in your hand.

I've never managed to give myself more than the tiniest cut with any of my knives, but I have done the razorblade mangling bit when I was a kid.

I don't want to risk jinxing my luck by talking about it, I just keep knocking on wood. Maybe I don't have as much "usage time" logged, so that's it.

Now if you want to start a "Dad burnit I just cut my finger off with a hacksaw!" I might have something to add

No longer bleeding thankfully, Brandon

My worst cut was not actually with a knife (thought it just as easily could have been), but with a hatchet that I had just put a hair popping edge on for a friend. I set the hatched up on the top of my tool box and it began to slide off. I saved my toes from the edge of the hatchet, however my right index finger was not so lucky. I immediately covered the wound and went to get my dad. When he asked "how bad?" I removed my other had from the wound to expose two bones in my finger at the joint and replied "pretty bad." Next time a sharp object falls near me, I'll just get out of the way all together.

Left index finger chopped to the bone while re-notching a plastic arrow with my Dad's machete. Don't ask, I was just a kid.

As an adult, practicing one handed, left hand close (I'm right handed) closed the blade on my index finger. Two days later, same knife, same dumb stunt, same hand, same finger, same spot. Yup, opened that flap up another 2mm or so. Ouch!

Almost a full thickness laceration along my extensor tendon of right index finger. Had the cut been across the tendon, I would have required major surgery to retrieve the retracted tendon. The tendon is almost as thick as a pencil and permits your finger to straighten. Sutures and p.t needed. It was due to a TERZOULA ATCF folding when it shouldn't have. I will never buy one again and sold mine asap....too flexible in carbon fiber, lousy lock on mine.

Geoff...Got rid of the knife because of the knife's fault ? Been there. Done that. Got rid of it because of owner's fault ? Same scenario. If a knife cuts me bad, it's outa here. Personal problem I guess

*Ouch*!#%@! I'm looking at a 45? year old scar on my left hand about 1.25" long..I was holding a block of Balsa wood and with an Exacto Knife in my right I drew it back; with the grain and it went thru it like butter>> Zip!!!! Cut myself right behind my left thumb down to the bone. Went up to the Art teacher and showed her my hand bleeding like He!!..She FAINTED!...I got 6 stiches, and a lesson I will never forget...
