Ive been toying with the idea of picking up a full size benchmade skirmish for sometime and finally got one today.Razor sharp , lock is very solid, like the way the handle fits in my hand but not crazy about the finish and color of it so Ill have address that. Have any of you used this knife for camping/skinning etc... Interested in hearing anything good or bad. Any problems with the steel or lock???
As always thanks for any input.

I have a mini and like it alot. I haven;t put it through its paces yet, just utility work. I know the finish of the Ti scales aren't what we'd call "pretty", but I like them pretty good. The Skirmish was just a tad too big for me, so I got a full-size Rukus instead ((( :D )))

I've had my full size Skirmish for about two years now, and the lock is still as solid (bank vault lockup) as the day I got it. I have used it for EDC and some very limited outdoors work--whittling, light chopping, camp kitchen type stuff and it has been great. My only complaints are that the clip is little flimsy for a knife of it's size and it takes up a lot of pocket room.

Edited to add: I am sure we have all heard how brittle S30V is  but I dropped mine off my bench and it landed tip first on the concrete garage floor. It just rolled/defromed a little. Five minutes on the stone and you could not tell any damage was done. No chips or chunks missing. I've also used it to remove sod from around my sprinklers and the edge held up pretty well. It needed a touch up, but it was not dull by any means.

I have EDC'ed a BM skirmish for quite sometime now...I didn't like the plain one either...so I got the black blade/blue handle version. Looks and works great!

And I use mine HARD in the shop every day.

carried it all day and didnt find it to be to big or heavy. cut somes boxes and plastic zip ties, blade came very sharp out of the box. i do wish that is was tip up carry. i guess thats just what im used to.

I've had one for about a year and the lock bar is getting a little wiggly, but not problematic. It's holding up really well, considering subjecting it to a lot of shock with the kind of use it sees.

I usually carry it in my pocket when I'm in the bush and use it to prune the trail corridor. I've chopped down some fairly thick, (up to 2" dia) Scotch Broom plants which are really fibrous and tough. It doesn't bind and it bites deep.

The handle design allows for a firm grip at the end, extending your reach and pointing the tip further down like a khukuri for good shearing action whilst chopping stuff.

It's flat ground and the blade is very thick. It is very sharp and easy to resharpen, but doesn't have a thin edge profile so it's a little unwieldy for fine little jobs.

The S30V is an excellent steel, and I'm not sure why anyone would have a problem with it. I have several using knives made with the stuff and I find it to be great.

I wouldn't carry it as any every day using knife, it's too big and does not forgive clumsy moves as the blade carries much momentum. It's unwieldy due to its weight and length.

The pocket clip is effective, and the knife is comfortable to carry around in your pocket.

:thumbup:my pleasure.
