Hey guys,
I just made this canteen container last night. It turned out pretty good! I think maybe Spookypistolero made something like this? Anyway, with the canteen in it, it still has room for some basic supplies.

What do you all think? Also, if anyone wants me to, I can do a tutorial on how to make one just like this. If you have any home made gear you can show pics if you like.

Looking good, brother! That's some nice stitch work. And having room for 'extras' is certainly not a bad thing. It turns it into a nice little possibles pouch, good for either a dayhike or a quick hike away from base camp. And they weight nothing whatsoever.

Then there's always the 'indian style' cooling method, to just dip the cover in water with the canteen in, and let the heat of evaporation cool your drink a bit.

My old one:

I'd like to make a slightly larger one with two pouches, one for my Guyot 1L steel bottle+cup, and another for a few tidbits. I'm sicking of looking at overly-heavy nalgene carriers.

Other homemade stuff? Just basics I think, sheaths, slings, shelter setups. This isn't really homemade, just home-gathered..

Cheap canteen/mug (peanut butter jar + coleman mug, fits perfectly):

i like it and would like a tutorial on it if you get the chance. looks very handy.

I've seen it done with the legs of old BDU pants. The drawstrings on the cuffs is used for the closure.

Thats pretty cool. Love seeing that Steel Warrior get a workout. I got outbid on one this week on ebay, but I scored a really neato looking Loveless style Rough Rider fixed blade for 12 bucks. And two or three RR and SW pocket knives while I was at it.

I use a home-made water filter, alcohol stove, several home-made sheaths. Mac
