Hi guys,

I just want to show you my first selfmade knive (working hard on my rp-number :p). I wanted a non rusting, smaller than my RC-4-blade as a work EDC, where I often have to put back the knive wet and dirty into the sheath and have no possibility to resharpen the blade.
This is the result, that i´m now using since 1,5 months (still pleased):

steel: 1.4153.03, 60 HRC
blade: 3mm, 9 cm
total: 20 cm
Kanvasmicarta
Kydex Home with Molle Loks
No blade finish :o
Whenever I can I prefer the RC-4/Izula combo for outdoor use, but the special requirements resulted in this clone...

thanks for looking!
btw this is the greatest community I ever met on www, I enjoy reading the posts nearly everyday!

Very cool, nice work. The steel is kind of unusual, 1.4153.03 (SB1 or Noilox according to Google)... Any reason you picked this steel? I have never heard of until this post. RC-3 is one of my all time favorite knives.

Wowza.

Nicely done, diak.

I one day hope to have craftsmanship skills such as this.

I picked this steel because a german knive maker called Juergen Schanz (schanz-messer.de) uses it often. I like the features: stainless, easy to work with untill hardened (-62 HRC I guess), not very expensive. And as I like his work I bought it in his shop. He also did the hardening.

But it´s a steel made for people who don´t like resharpening blades, it´s not easy to get the blade dull...:thumbdn: :)

Thank you guys for the compliments!

I got some great news :):):)

My whife just gave me a gift coupon for a RC-6 I will order right now :thumbup::thumbup:

What a happy day!

Putting together the fun I have with the ant and the 4, wow....

My wife is fantastic, but she doesn´t know ANYTHING about knives, she not even likes knives, so it was me who made her choose the RC-6.

Now I´m thinking about waiting for the ultimate kit/taking the RC-5 instead, order as fast as I can???

I´ll get a beer or two and decide then...

Hey, good work.

The first fixed blade I made was because I didnt have enough money for a RAT. I made it similarly to an rc-4 without the ricasso, and then halfway between a bravo 1.
I know right, but I didn't know much about knives then to be able to draw up a good knife by myself. ended up bringing the point down to more of a clip, and messed up on the handle So it actually bears little resemblance to either. but yeah, great working knife.

where did you get that Micarta from? all the micarta I can find is either 1/8ths or 3/8ths. Never anything in the Goldie-Locks zone.

Nice work, very cool that you have the ability and knowledge to make your own tools! If I was a caveman, I would still be scratching my head

Good Morning Monky, the micarta is from the shop named above, put in form with a hand-shaper.
