HEY CARL, I'M FIXIN TO GIVE IT A TRY. I'M GONNA MAKE ONE THAT HAS THE JACK APPLYING GOOD SOLID PRESSURE FROM THE BOTTOM AND HAVE A STEEL ROD EXTENDING OUT THE TOP SO I CAN SMACK IT WITH A HAMMER. I FIGURE THE PRESSURE FROM THE JACK WILL HOLD THE STAMP STILL AND NOT LET THE IT JUMP ANY. I'LL SEND YOU THE PLANS IF IT WORKS GOOD. TAKE CARE! MICHAEL

I just built one. I used a 3 ton jack, although I think 5 ton would be better, frame of square tubing, a half in. plate for the jack to sit on, 4 short pieces of angle for guides and a couple springs to make the jack go back up, the jacks on top work on bottom. It works great.
MIKE, I THOUGHT OF PUTTING THE JACK ON TOP, BUT I WAS AFFRAID IT WOULD LEAK FLUID. DOES THE JACK ALONE HAVE ENOUGH PRESSURE TO STAMP ANNEALED STAINLESS?? TAKE CARE! MICHAEL

Michael, I, using the jack in the normal upright position. Yes, the 3 ton will imprint with the 1/8 in. stamps I'm using, already had the jack if I was buying one I would gwt a 5 ton or larger if you have a big stamp, I believe the stamp company could tell you how much pressure you need if you have a custom stamp.
