So what's your favorite "recipe" for making tinder. I'll be using a lamp wick base and have lots of beeswax, parafin wax, etc, around.

Jimbo,

For tinder I melt paraffin and Vaseline together and dip cotton balls in the mixture.

For fire-starters I melt paraffin and stir in wood shavings. I press the mixture into a candy mold. For larger starters I press the mixture into a paper egg crate.

You can also strip down some birch bark, dry it and vacuum seal it or place it in a small Zip-Lock bag.

cheap, simple, and easy... cotton balls impregnated with vaseline.

Also, add some 0000(fine)steel wool andmix it with the cotton. Burns Great!!!!
