Auntie offered this for sale last week. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...art-the-New-Year-right-with-Thamar-Dui-Chirra

I missed that one but I emailed her and asked if she had one like it and....

Tah-da

17.5 inches long and 23.70oz and the most awesome handle drop this side of a Victorian era masterpiece.

I gotta say Thamar really nailed this one. His work truly rivals the HI greats. The only thing he lacks is that final spit and polish that older HI blades are known for. All this blade needs is a little more time on the polishing wheel. Oh, and can we get him to make a chakmak and Karda longer than two inches?

If you miss a dotd don't be afraid to email Yangdu and check, you might be surprised what she has to offer.

That's right handsome. Love the handle on that puppy. Real pretty wood and perfectly shaped.

I do love the traditional looking blades of late.

Awesome. Thamar might not be doing a final spit and polish, but he evidently put some extra time into this knife. Looks like the cho has a stinger!

Great looking Blade and I agree with P.I.C., that handle is really flash. Glad you checked to see what was available and that you got one. You're going to be happy with it, no doubt about it. Now, as for Thamar---well, I think all the goodie was sucked out of him for a while when he made my kuk. :D It's simply drop dead gorgeous and you couldn't ask for better!! Let us know how the Dui performs.

Very nice! These old school style models are really cool. 23.7oz sounds like a great weight for that length. :)

Sweet blade dirt! I have a similar Yek Chirra 17.5" at 21 oz. Love it! All others since have been in the near 30oz. They are very nice blades but these light ones are very rare and Thamar is the only Kami that has made them so far. Home run for sure. Id like to see Purna make a few myself. He no doubt could make a fine one.

My 21oz Yek Chirra by Thamar. I think there were only two made at this weight.

Yeah man Thamar rocks! I absolutely love mine. I like the look of my Purna Yek Chirra better than my Thamar Dui Chirra.

I do however prefer the feel and handling of the Dui Chirra due to its 17.5in 22oz construction... it feels even lighter in the hands. My Yek Chirra certainly is a piece of artwork that is just as good chopping, slicing and dicing. I reserve my the Dui Chirra for fighting work and forms. Its light weight and razor sharp edge lend itself to a fighter in my opinion. Your handle looks to have a little more drop than mine, its really sexy. I love the dropped handles.

Here is my Thamar...

If i remember you gb got the brother to my Yek and that was all of them in the featherlight range. Then came some Dui chirras. I really want to pick up one of them as well.
Ill have to be deader than disco before i part with this one Bookie. Then you can have it:D Ill tell my wife add it to the Bookie list.

Disco is dead? I didn't get the memo.

Crap, guess I might as well toss all my bell bottoms.

These khuks are beautiful. I'd love to see a good field report. I bet the handling is superb:thumbup:

I also sharked some of the early light weight Thamar khukhuris - my Thamar dui chirra is 17.5" and 23.6 ounces, and my Thamar yek chirra is 18" and 21.5 ounces. They are my two favorites so far.

Did these lightweight blades have ever come in shorter versions, like 15" for example?

Thanks for the answers!

A 15" @ 17-19 oz would be a sweet deal. I'll keep a close watch on the forum ;).
