Thanks for the warm welcome everybody, it's great to be back. I've about caught up on my sleep, among other things. Been scurrying about squaring things away, had to go to the troop clinic to get tested for tuberculosis, malaria, and HIV, but I told 'em for certain the only thing I was suffering from was an underworked liver, for which I'd already begun "therapy".

Had to get my utilities all turned back on and give the house a good airing out. I had a bit of worry as I headed down to the post office to get my mail started back being delivered. I'd gotten so busy with things back when we were deploying that I'd never gotten by to have my mail stopped. Usually, if you don't get your mail out of the box they'll wait ten days and then start returning to sender. Never happened. My mailman, truly one of the good guys, realized what had happened and filled out the paperwork himself to have my mail held for me. There it was, all sorted and neatly stacked, and sitting on top was a little old Bilton khukuri I'd been watching and waiting for over in Kuwait. Guess it knew better than I did where it should go to catch up with me. A mistake of the "Nepali shipping staff"? Okay, if you say so.

Hmmm, head east for the BLADE Show, or west for Honey Lemon Chicken and coed camping. I sincerely appreciate both offers, but I know y'all will understand if I say I'm just a bit weary of travelling for a spell. However, a nice laid back gun show, followed by a few cold pints and some bangers & mash down at the pub, Berk my friend, I think you may be on to something. Will e-mail you and Pappy and start working up a FRAGO for that mission. Might even have some new cutlery to show y'all, i.e. Baby Dui Chirra and Scramaseaxs.

Brendan, 1,000 posts already? Cheers mate, well done.

Uncle, I can only guess what the dust bunnies have been hoarding for me while I was gone, but you can bet I will indeed "bug" you to find out.

Anyhow, it's great to be back and catch up on the goings on. Here I am once more living it up in the land of the free, but the fighting's not over over there, and the guys and gals still deployed are never far from my thoughts. I wish them all God speed, and a safe journey home.

Sarge

but the fighting's not over over there,
You are unfortunately correct, and I think it's going to be ugly/uglier for a long, long time.

Keep working on the liver function. It's important.

Welcome back home, glad you made it back safely. Hope you enjoy some well deserved R&R!
Thanks, we're proud of you all!

Sarge,

I’m not calling a SNCO a liar but only time for one beer in Rota? They serve beer in the gedunk in the pax terminal. No beer for desert rotation plus dehydration plus not on flight status equals 25-35 seconds per beer. I know the pax terminal and maint. on the bird took longer than that…

Just be glad you didn’t have to transit to Langley at that hour, having flown out of Norfolk and Oceana while having to go to Langley once or twice a day the tunnel drive is for the birds.

The dream will be when you get a notice to re-deploy w/in one week. Was I really home? Did I catch up on bills? How bad does the yard really look?

Medical forgot the drug screen urinalysis with their other required screens? How about the mandatory (for us anyway) psych. etc.?

I was gone so much that I just paid the utilities a deposit of $300.00 and they would take it out while I was gone. Good for those years you spend 39, 67, and 52 nights in your own rack.

Welcome home, you accomplished the mission and also brought everyone back.

S/F, Mike
