First of all, here was the absolute BEST mail call yesterday!! And a GINORMOUS Thank You to Eric
Choppaman
for being my "Iron Mountain" offsite safe storage bunker for the past several months. (story to follow below)
The top box held my Group Buy Scandi Handyman and the other 3 held 60+ fixed blades and sheaths. Since it was just like Christmas, it seemed an appropriate backdrop.

Second of all, I have done without these knives AND have not carried a fixed blade since August 26 (again, story and reasons to follow below) sooooooo, if anyone has interest in any of these knives, please email me at warrior108@gmail.com and I'll add your name next to them just in case I decide to let any of them go. Do not send a Bladeforums conversation because my Inbox is near full and I just don't have time to go empty stuff right now, thanks.
Onto the story/background ..
I don't want this thread to be negative or a bashing deal so please know I'm not venting or complaining and just tossing out some facts and "fun stuff"
we've been going though.
There are a couple reasons I'm taking "dibs" on the knives. First, is that if I can do without these knives for 3+ months and I didn't miss them or don't gush over them during a reunion, then I could maybe part with some. Second, is that just trying to manage this many knives in a collection during times like this or like hurricane Harvey the prior year can be somewhat exhausting. Third, its a lot of $$ to tie up in knives and a responsible voice says that I really ought to get some debt paid off and put more towards the kids' car and college funds, and stuff like that.
Anyway, if you're still here, thanks for listening!!

- Had 2 daughters and got divorced in 2012.
- It was my first divorce rodeo with kids, a house and things involved so I didn't know what I was doing and just went with the flow, being agreeable. I wanted her and the kids to be comfortable so I offered more than was required for support. After all was agreed on, she asked and got half my 401k. The leverage was that she'd let me keep the house which I kind of needed to work from home. We didn't have much equity in it but nonetheless it would have been a pain to sell, split $$ and start over.
- Had a 3rd daughter and we got remarried (yes to the same person) in 2016.
- We had a verbal conversation and agreed on these things: We'd keep things separate for "just in case" so it would be easy and simple to split things up. I'd keep having child support garnished from my check, her budget was hers and mine was mine, she had her house which was our main "family house", I kept my house which was my office/man cave AND anything we owned or bought was going to be separate and individually ours AND if we did get divorced again, she wouldn't go after my house or 401k or belongings again. (she went "gun shopping" in my safe the 1st time and took my favorite HK
and the leverage was "Do you want me to ask for half of them?")
- Well, so much for that verbal agreement because we filed again this year and things were going fine until she wanted more support $$ and then the leverage and heartburn kicked in again. On the chopping block that a TX Judge would hands-down sign off on was the 401k (50% of the amount built up from married date to divorce date) and any/all community property.
- One evening in late August there was an especially NOT FUN phone conversation and she stated that she's never seen in my safe but feels that she should be able to go "knife shopping" and since they're community property, she should be able to get half of them. Within minutes of hanging up from that call, I decided to bust out the Escape Pods, stayed up till the wee hours and at 2am was dropping 3 boxes in the USPS kiosk chute.
- Regarding fixed blades, I kept 2 boxes of knives; 1) About 10-15 knives that I had on a list to sell and 2) A select small group of about 10 knives that I could use for EDC, that I'd hate to part with but would be up for semi-negotiation depending on how divorce negotiations/requirements went. I have a ton of 'spensive folders also but those could be strategically hidden so they stayed.
- And last but not least, the divorce was finalized on 12/6 and I now have an absolute ton of stress behind me. Negotiations and things being held over my head are done with so I can now spend some time on collecting myself and moving forward.
