Homemade Comp finish Or.... Naked Infi

Upload your images to an image hosting service such as Photobucket.com, and then use the IMG BB-Code and input the URL. "//URL_TO_IMAGES" (drop the quotes). This way you don't need to upload to blade forums, and they don't get sized down.

Hope this helps....

Les.

Thanks Garth. @ Resinguy, I stripped it with Strip X, then I took medium steel wool and got all the nooks and crannies, then I followed that up with fine steel wool and scrubbed it under running water. I think it turned out really good. I must admit I was super nervous dunking such a huge piece of INFI love into a bucket of stripper, but I figured "what the heck....it's INFI". It took quite a bit of time and scrubbing. Whatever coating Busse uses doesn't give up easily. I think the end result was well worth it though.

I was thinking of doing a light buff on my knife to even out it's look after stripping.

I know people do full satin jobs and this can affect the warranty.. The buffing I want to do will not cause additional heat or affect the heat treat. Will it still be covered by warranty if I manage to break it at some point?

What procedures used for doing a home satin finish can affect the warranty? When my knife comes in I was thinking about stripping and then bead blasting it.

From the reading I have done, I assume that mods that will not affect the heat treat are ok.

Some people do satin jobs that involve grinding and re-profiling... I am pretty sure this voids the warranty.

So doing a ghetto satin job with some light buffing that does not change the profile or generate heat, should be fine... Right guys?

If you do it by hand you can't possibly generate enough heat to void the warranty.image.jpg
I didn't polish this at all. Some 600 followed by 1000 grit would have this baby super shiny in half an hour.
