All the years I have been making knives I haven't made me a knife to slice leather. Wayne Goddard did give me one he made but its not much more than an xacto blade with a elk tip handle. Seems like the thing I use the most is the Utility by Mister Stanley. If any have homemade cutters and you don't mind posting a picture it might be an interesting thread.

I use a fixed blade made from O1, the edge had slight chips taken out while i was grinding because I accidentally tipped the blade. Those chips make it great to slice leather and my finger as I found out last night. I will try to post a picture of the knife tonight.

Funny you should ask Raymond! I am just finishing up an offset head knife for a local saddle shop...it's one with almost a half circle for a blade actually more half oval...had made one out of a handsaw blade but it was too flexible so I forged another blade out of some flat spring and ground thin then welded a handle tang on...finish sanded yesterday and sharpened it to see if it would hold an edge- boy does it! Didn't realize how versatile these puppies are, you can skive ( thin) and cut smooth curves with it like nothing else! I'd post a pic but haven't figured out how! I'll email ya one when I get the scales on! Bill A.
